Saturday evening.

Having finished her preparations, Eun Jae picked up her bag and was about to head out to the living room when she suddenly halted mid-step. She turned back and sat once more in front of her vanity, picking up the calendar neatly placed atop it.

A gentle smile bloomed on Eun Jae’s lips as she counted, one by one, the days leading up to the date circled timidly in red.

The wedding—once seemingly impossible to imagine—was now just a week away. It still didn’t feel real.

“So I really am getting married, huh?”

Time truly flies. Back when I first marked the dates on this calendar, I never imagined things would turn out like this.

Suddenly, she recalled the very first time she’d been summoned to his house.

Both of us—the me who stubbornly refused to go in despite having reached his front door, and the you who came all the way out to greet me in front of the elevator; the you who reached out your hand, eager just to hold mine once, and the me who stubbornly held back.

After chuckling softly for a while, Eun Jae sealed away that memory with a quiet smile, thinking it’d be comforting to recall on gloomy days.

Though it was merely a few months ago, remembering him as he is now made those moments with him feel like something from a distant, hazy past.

Had I ever experienced such happiness before?

Every day felt like walking atop soft, fluffy clouds—a seemingly endless string of bliss I’d once thought utterly unattainable. It was as if life whispered, “Your weary, exhausting days are finally over,” rewarding me daily with sweet reassurance.

Eun Jae turned her head this way and that, then picked up a red pen resting on the desk beside her powder room and sat once more before her vanity.

Over the timid red circle, she drew a large heart and filled it completely with red ink.
