After passing through the large gate entwined with rose vines, Seon Woo stopped the car briefly and, as if he’d been waiting, turned toward Eun Jae.

“Ms. Ji Eun Jae, what if you just say ‘yes’ over there?”

“Then I’ll say ‘no.’ So, you should’ve answered well *before* the question came back to me.”

Their exchange wasn’t loud. Both tried their best to keep their voices low and speak calmly.

Seon Woo slowly swept his hair back, then took a deep breath to suppress his emotions.

“I’ll think about it—I’ll discuss it and decide later. There are plenty of good responses, so why must you be so one-dimensional?”

“One-dimensional?”

“‘Yes’ or ‘no’—if that’s not one-dimensional, then what is?”

“Oh, come on.”

Eun Jae narrowed her eyes slightly and huffed at Seon Woo. Seon Woo exhaled a sigh-laced breath and rolled down the driver’s-side window. A cool breeze blew in through the lush, verdant forest.

‘Despite all this, the weather’s disgustingly nice.’

Truthfully, whether Eun Jae answered “yes” or not didn’t matter—he already knew that if Grandfather had spoken, it *had* to be done, no matter what.

Once a month, or at most two or three times—

He’d thought that frequency would be enough to convincingly keep up the charade, but the plan had unraveled significantly. Which meant, inevitably, the woman would now have more responsibilities to shoulder.

The other party was Grandfather.
