When I Reach You (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
Eun Jae blinked, her thoughts momentarily frozen as she stared at the man.
“I’ll definitely repay your kindness…”
“Anything at all?”
The man’s lips twitched inside her grasp, tickling her palm.
In such a serious situation, what on earth was amusing him? Eun Jae frowned, unimpressed, as he kept chuckling softly.
“The thing is—”
As murmurs drew closer, Eun Jae, who had been about to continue speaking, turned around. The situation had grown more urgent than just moments before.
Terrified that her voice might leak outside, Eun Jae whispered the rest of her sentence.
“Could we talk about this a little later?”
Whether he understood or not,
the man slowly removed Eun Jae’s hand, which had been covering his mouth.
In an instant, their positions swapped. Now standing with his back to the door, the man looked down at Eun Jae and asked,
“Decide now. Will you let me help?”
“…”
His eyes, pressed close to hers, sparkled with curiosity—like someone who expected something specific from her.
Why me? What could I possibly give?
I have nothing at all to offer you.
“Answer me.”
Before she could even think, his question pressed on. The loan sharks might storm in at any second.
Swallowing hard, Eun Jae replied,
“Yes… P-please help me.”
Thinking her immediate priority was escaping this crisis, Eun Jae quickly nodded and pleaded for his assistance.
Satisfied with her answer, the man’s lips curved upward.
His thick, dark eyes—so similar to hers—glistened beneath the deeply set cap. Those eyes brimmed with tears, ready to spill over at any moment.
Slowly, his hand covered hers near her eyes. Gently wiping away the tears clinging helplessly to her lashes with his thumb, he said,
“Alright. Just trust me.”
His eyes softened into a gentle curve, and Eun Jae nodded as she looked up at him.
Soon after, the sound of their entry surged in—a clamorous racket.
As the sound of doors being kicked open one by one drew nearer, Eun Jae’s hands began trembling again.
“Ugh… Just where the hell did she disappear to?”
Following that weary voice, a rough, gravelly tone chimed in.
Only one man among them stopped directly in front of the locked door.
“You’re sure she went in here?”
A black shadow brushed against the man’s shoe tip.
“Yes, I saw it clearly with my own eyes.”
“Then she must be inside.”
Assured, the stout man rapped on the restroom door with his thick hand.
“Open up—while you still can.”
Despite his relatively polite approach, Eun Jae’s hands trembled anxiously.
“Ji Eun Jae, you’re in there, aren’t you?”
The man quietly observed Eun Jae’s shivering hands—shaking like an aspen leaf—before firmly grasping her pale ones.
“I told you to trust me.”
His lips, hovering near her shoulder, whispered, *It’s alright*, and as he slowly backed away, his reassuring glance strangely calmed her.
Knock, knock. As the door was rapped again, the man’s gaze—previously fixed on Eun Jae—returned sharply to the firmly shut door. A coarse male voice filtered in.
“Eun Jae, you only need to repay the money, okay? Why keep running around and making things harder for us? You’re such a pain.”
Beneath the seemingly friendly tone, sharp hostility lurked.
At their words, Seon Woo exhaled—perhaps in relief.
What if this woman were a criminal? And if she were, what then?
Having acted on impulse for the first time in his life, he’d felt no certainty—only inner doubt—until now, when their words gave him a surprisingly clear answer.
A faint smirk tugged at Seon Woo’s lips as he murmured quietly,
Trending
“They’re awfully loud—interrupting my work.”
“What? Hey, boss—there’s a guy in there!”
Annoyed by Seon Woo’s indifferent remark, the man standing before the door stammered in surprise. At that, a shadow, previously lingering farther away, strode swiftly forward and asked,
“A woman went in there alone, right?”
“Didn’t you hear? She’s using the restroom!”
Raising his voice, Seon Woo gently but firmly guided Eun Jae by both shoulders into a recessed corner of the wall.
With at least a 20-centimeter height difference, he felt even more imposing to Eun Jae, who swallowed hard as she looked up at him.
“Fine, just open the door first.”
“Wait—until I’m done. Until I finish my business.”
“Tch, this bastard…”
Bang! Unable to contain his fury any longer, they began kicking the door. The feeble door creaked under the force.
“You won’t open it?”
Bang, bang again!
“Do you want to die?”
Seon Woo slowly brought his lips close to Eun Jae’s ear, as she trembled in fear.
“Nothing will happen.”
“…”
“Don’t come out—no matter what. Stay right here.”
Whispering low enough for only her to hear, she nodded, her face on the verge of bursting into tears.
Without hesitation, Seon Woo pulled out his phone and dialed someone.
“This is Yoon Seon Woo. Please send three security guards to the men’s restroom just outside the CS (Cardiothoracic Surgery) professor’s office. It’s urgent—please dispatch them as soon as possible.”
“Ha, look at this bastard.”
Bang, bang, bang! The door, rattling violently with each heavy kick, had begun to bend inward.
The latch, too weak to withstand the blows, slid incrementally with each impact, and the man gripped it with all his strength.
Eun Jae watched him anxiously. Sensing her gaze, he smiled warmly and whispered to her,
“What? Did you expect me to knock them down like some hero? I’m terrible at fighting, you know.”
Eun Jae shook her head, indicating otherwise.
“That’s why I told you not to expect too much—I probably can’t do more than this.”
“…”
“But I *will* protect you. I promised, didn’t I?”
Outside was so chaotic that their conversation remained unheard. The knuckles of Seon Woo’s hand gripping the latch grew steadily paler.
“This is taking awfully long.”
Though he’d emphasized urgency,
apparently still at ease, Seon Woo clicked his tongue, glancing at the watch strapped to his left wrist.
At first, only one man had been kicking—but now it seemed two or three were doing so together. The restroom door shook faster and more violently.
Seon Woo glanced sideways at the woman. Holding out like this was no longer sustainable.
Yet he couldn’t possibly ask the delicate woman—who trusted him completely—to help him hold the latch; besides, she likely wouldn’t be much help anyway.
This is awkward.
Why did I go and tell her to trust me, of all things?
As Seon Woo mulled over his regret, he tuned his ears to the sound of their kicks colliding with the door.
Reading their rhythm, he suddenly yanked the door open. One of the men, mid-kick, tumbled headfirst into the restroom and crashed face-first into the toilet.
“Eeek!”
A woman, startled by the man’s shout, barely managed to clamp a hand over her own mouth.
The man who’d hit his head on the toilet collapsed against it from the impact.
Immediately, one of the two remaining men lunged forward—but Seon Woo used the open doorframe as a brace and kicked hard with his dress shoe, driving his heel straight into the man’s solar plexus.
The man, struck precisely in the solar plexus, let out a choked “Ugh!” and rolled backward.
“Offering your solar plexus right in front of a cardiothoracic surgeon? Bold move.”
The last remaining man clearly seemed to be their leader.
The moment the burly man approached, spewing curses threateningly,
“You can’t do this here!”

Security guards, arriving just in time, seized him before he could exert any real force. They were even more powerfully built than he was.
Meanwhile, Seon Woo crab-walked out, meticulously avoiding any contact with the man collapsed against the toilet.
“You were the least impressive of the bunch.”
Thanks to that, the crisis seemed averted—
but Seon Woo, silently checking the time on his wristwatch, furrowed his brows tightly. He sharply addressed the only guard still standing idle,
“It’s been seven minutes since I called. Didn’t I explicitly say it was urgent?”
The guard fidgeted uneasily at Seon Woo’s words.
Within the hospital, Yoon Seon Woo was a hot potato—
practically no one didn’t know him: a venomous, relentless viper.
Add to that his invincible reputation as the hospital director’s eldest grandson—and no further explanation was needed.
“There was… some commotion on the first floor as well. They might be associates…”
“So you’re short-staffed?”
“My apologies, Professor.”
One burly guard easily restrained the screaming man, while another held the man wheezing from Seon Woo’s solar plexus kick.
After observing the scene, Seon Woo clenched his eyes shut and turned away.
“Remember: the protocol mandates five minutes.”
Turning back toward the guard, who stood with bowed head absorbing the reprimand, Seon Woo added,
“For now, just get these nuisances out of here—I’m about to die from the noise.”
“Yes, sir.”
He grimaced and shoved his index finger into his ear.
“Be sure to verify their identities and collect their contact information. We may need to involve the police.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Oh—and take evidentiary photos, please. One precious restroom door has been ruined, after all—I’ll need to file a claim.”
*My favorite spot, too… tsk.*
No sooner had Seon Woo finished murmuring than the guard pulled out his phone and snapped several photos in quick succession.
When Seon Woo urged the guard to remove the man collapsed against the toilet, the guard belatedly dragged him out.
The woman, whom he’d expected to peek out timidly at any moment, remained strangely quiet. Seon Woo peered into the restroom stall from afar.
Her frame was so slight that she was invisible through the partially opened door.
Could she still be in there—just because I told her not to come out?
Seon Woo scratched near his eyebrow.
“You can come out now.”
Only then did the woman, who’d been quietly pressed against the wall, exhale deeply and step out of the stall.
A petite woman emerging—from a men’s restroom, no less, and specifically from the cramped stall where Professor Yoon had just been—startled the guard, who looked up at Seon Woo in surprise.
He knew exactly what that look meant.
Narrowing his brows, Seon Woo warned the guard,
“Whatever you’re thinking—don’t.”
“Yes… sir.”
After that terse reply, the guard quickly turned away, pretending not to have noticed anything, and easily dragged the unconscious man out of the restroom.
[This is the timeline separator]Eun Jae stood beside the man, maintaining a respectful distance, shifting awkwardly.
As soon as the others left, the man removed his lab coat and draped it loosely over his broad shoulders.
He swiftly unfastened the onyx-studded cufflinks, rolled his shirtsleeves up to his elbows, and scrubbed his hands abnormally vigorously.
From afar, Eun Jae watched him wash his hands in the mirror.
Earlier, in her panic, she hadn’t noticed—but now she realized how beautifully smooth the lines of his facial features were.
He’s handsome.
“You seem unusually obedient, don’t you?”
Their eyes met in the mirror as he washed his hands and glanced up at his own reflection. Eun Jae hesitated briefly before stepping forward and bowing courteously.
“Thank you—truly—for today.”
Before she even finished speaking, his damp phone slid toward her.
“Enter your number.”

“Huh? My number?”
“Whose number did you think I wanted?”
Having handed her the phone, he turned back to his hand-washing without looking at her.
He merely asked the question to her reflection in the mirror, then lowered his head again to resume washing.
Eun Jae’s entire body broke out in goosebumps the moment she caught his lips tilting upward slightly.
“I *did* just save your life, right?”
Drying his hands with a paper towel, he stuffed them into the pockets of his black trousers—a small portable hand sanitizer slipped out with them.
He squeezed a generous amount onto his palms, rubbed them together, and then donned medical gloves on both hands.
After silently observing Eun Jae for a moment, he extended his hand, as if asking for something.
“I need your phone.”
Ah.
Rather than speaking, Eun Jae shaped the soundless word with her lips and handed him her phone, already input with her number.
Taking the phone, he tilted his head slightly and smiled.
“You know what? You’re the first person ever to touch my phone.”
This guy really has a lot of “firsts.”
In dramas or movies, the male lead might suddenly kiss the heroine after saying, *You’re the first woman to do this to me!*…
Ah—what am I even thinking right now?
Quickly shelving that pointless, time-and-space-warping thought, Eun Jae quietly bit her lower lip.
The man slipped his arms into the white lab coat draped over his shoulders.
A blue embroidered patch on the left chest caught her eye:
—Yeonlim Hospital, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Yoon Seon Woo.
Ah—so he’s a doctor.
She silently repeated the name, staring fixedly at the embroidery, when it gradually grew larger—closer—until it filled her vision.
With a gentle smile playing on his lips, he leaned down toward her shoulder and whispered,
“Don’t just thank me with words—”
“…”
“Repay me—your debt of gratitude.”
Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
