A man standing not far from the alley gestured for Taekwang to enter first. Taekwang, holding Sunwoo tightly, looked up at the entrance of a large building.
C Capital…? Jaehong is really here?
“You, what’s your relationship with Kim Jaehong?”
“…We’re friends.”
“Oh, friends? Judging by how you’ve been chased all the way here, it doesn’t seem like an ordinary friendship.”
The man asking the question strangely had his gaze fixed on Sunwoo. Taekwang embraced Sunwoo protectively.
“Your friend borrowed money and tried to run away, so I brought him back.”
“Jaehong borrowed money? That’s unlikely. Jaehong’s salary—”
“Whether it’s a salary or nonsense, do you know what happens when you use loan sharks recklessly?”
The man, with a threatening expression, poked Taekwang’s shoulder with his fingers as he spoke.

“Like this, even while breathing, the interest accumulates with loansharks.”
“How much did he borrow…?”
“Why, are you going to pay it back? Are you rich?”
“Then, will you let him go?”
“As long as we only pay the money, there’s no reason for this.”
The man, who suddenly became friendly, sat in front of a well-prepared desk and casually smiled, placing his hand on Taekwang’s shoulder.
“Shall we go upstairs and talk about the rest?”

Inside his office on the third floor of the building, the air was thick with cigarette smoke.
When Sunwoo, unable to withstand the smoke, coughed, Taekwang took off his jacket and covered the child’s mouth.

“Aren’t you just going to laze around on the sofa?”
With a scolding tone, the man who had removed the bulky figures clinging to the sofa one by one gestured for them to leave. Then, he sat on a neatly arranged desk, crossing his legs.
On the tip of his polished shoe was a nameplate that appeared to be his.
CEO Kwon Seungcheol.
“Where is Jaehong?”
As Taekwang, who was searching for Jaehong, hesitated, Kwon Seungcheol, leaning forward against the table, pointed his chin towards the black sofa in front of his desk.
“He’ll be here soon. Before that, let’s open a savings account for you.”
“A savings account?”
While Taekwang looked puzzled and sat on the sofa, Kwon Seungcheol tossed the documents in a transparent file onto the coffee table.
“Write your name and sign here. Then, I’ll send you back.”

As Kwon Seungcheol leisurely lit a cigarette, his meaningful gaze once again fell on Sunwoo. Although it was unclear what he wanted, he seemed more interested in the child than himself.
Taekwang left Sunwoo by his side, trying to cover the child’s appearance as much as possible and keep him out of Kwon Seungcheol’s sight. Only then did Taekwang take out the documents placed in front of him.
Initially, the document showed a debt amount of 5 million won, and he thought it was Jaehong’s debt. Ironically, the document was an acknowledgment of debt and a fair certificate with the signature line left blank.
“Why is this?”
“It’s relatively cheap for the value of a child’s life, isn’t it?”
Once again, the man who laughed, revealing his yellow teeth, lowered the leg he had placed on the desk.
So, this was the plan from the beginning.
A ominous premonition that something was seriously wrong flashed through Taekwang’s mind. Although he had felt it since coming here, it seemed that this place was not operating legally. Taekwang swallowed dryly, glancing at the rabbit doll hanging on his waist.
If he refused and acted stubbornly from the beginning, it would only disrupt the atmosphere. If he did that, the child might really be in danger.
Anyway, all sounds in this place were being recorded in real-time. If the recording went smoothly as tested, it could last up to 10 hours. Once he safely escaped from here, it would undoubtedly be clear evidence.
Taekwang showed a cooperative attitude. Without hesitation, he raised the pen over the paper Kwon Seungcheol handed him.

Square after square, along with the sound of Taekwang’s pen, Kwon Seungcheol, who had been moving slowly, positioned himself on the opposite side of Sunwoo.
Hoo— exhaling smoke, Kwon Seungcheol looked at Sunwoo.
“Name.”
“…….”
With Sunwoo’s silence, Kwon Seungcheol leaned towards him as if finding it amusing, making a clicking sound with his tongue.
“This kid, even when adults are talking. Won’t you answer?”
“I don’t see you as an adult, sir.”
“What? This kid dares to say that.”
It happened in an instant. Kwon Seungcheol, who raised his eyebrows fiercely, grabbed Sunwoo’s chin with his thick hand. Startled, Taekwang intervened, blocking Sunwoo.
“Don’t do this to a child. It’s a matter for adults.”

“Come here. Taekwang, take care of this insolent guy here.”
“Why? This is not the agreement. You promised to let him go—”
“Is it all written?”
Taking Taekwang’s document, Kwon Seungcheol smiled, taking the pen from Taekwang’s hand. Then, right in front of Taekwang, he added another zero to the 5 million won on the acknowledgment of debt.
“What is this…?”
“Oh, have you been working too hard? Suddenly, I’m hungry. Taekwang, keep an eye on this audacious guy.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
