“My goodness. You know how to say such things?”
“Be careful, your husband might become unemployed soon.”
Laughing, Eun Jae sat up and pulled at Sun Woo’s hand, which was moving away. She felt an unfamiliar sensation in her palm. Eun Jae looked down, fiddling with the ring on Sun Woo’s left ring finger for a long while.
The significance of sharing matching rings was immense, but more than that, it was the fact that she had received a sincere proposal from him.
“Ah, my head.”
Cradling his throbbing forehead, Tae Kyu quickly filled a cup with water from the nightstand and gulped it down.
Then, noticing someone else lying next to him, he inadvertently spat the water out onto the floor.
“Ah shoot, you scared me.”
His mind snapped to alertness. Only then did he realize he was in an unfamiliar hotel. Despite drinking and wandering around, he had never made such a mistake before.
Carefully, Tae Kyu peeled back the blanket. The primal sight of his own body clad only in underwear greeted him.

“Wow.”
This is crazy.
Looking at the back of a woman with long brown hair flowing down to her waist, Tae Kyu sighed deeply and, without any intention of seeing her face, carefully slipped out from under the blanket.
Only then did the haphazardly scattered clothes on the floor come into his view.
Tae Kyu cautiously picked up his clothes and dressed himself. Hoping the woman wouldn’t suddenly wake and catch his eye, he grabbed his phone and wallet from among the scattered clothes and hastily left the room.
As soon as the door closed behind him, he let out the breath he had been holding and ran his hands through his hair in frustration.
“Damn it, what a mess.”
He couldn’t remember how many cups of coffee this was now. Taking a break to catch his breath in front of the station, Tae Kyu downed a venti-sized coffee in one shot. Crunching on the accompanying ice, he forced himself to recall the events of the previous night.
Was it after finishing two bottles of soju at the pojangmacha?
While waiting for his additional order, it was hard to tell if it was a dream or reality. Eun Jae was there, right in front of him.
“Hey, Ji Eun Jae.”

“…….”
“Why not me?”
He seemed to remember Eun Jae smiling and saying something to him, but he could only see her lips moving; no sound was coming through.
It must have been a dream. Ji Eun Jae would never smile so brightly at him.
“Quite pathetic.”
Useless fool. Internally hurling every insult at himself, Tae Kyu was about to pour the remaining ice from the empty cup into his mouth when he heard a voice chiding someone not too far away.
“Do you know how worried I was?”
“I’m sorry.”
Tae Kyu slowly moved towards the direction of the sound. Would he have reacted the same way under normal circumstances? He wasn’t sure. He felt oddly drawn to the place.
The woman with her hand on her hip was a seasoned senior nurse, and the woman bowing her head in front of her was this nurse.

“What’s going on? What happened?”
“No, it’s just that someone who never used to be late suddenly doesn’t show up or call, it’s worrying.”
“Wow, even the nurse knows how to be late?”
She was known throughout the hospital for her diligence. Tae Kyu remembered her as one of the few nurses he recalled.
What was her name again? Eun… He couldn’t recall any further, so Tae Kyu glanced at the name tag on the nurse’s chest.
Ah, Eun Na Rim. It was Eun Na Rim.
“I’m sorry for causing concern. It wasn’t anything serious. Just had a bit too much to drink yesterday…”
“Just like me? I also drank too much last night. Ah, my head feels like it’s going to split open, ugh, I feel sick.”
Muttering to himself, Tae Kyu’s eyes inadvertently met Na Rim’s. In that moment, Na Rim’s face seemed to superimpose with Eun Jae’s.
Tae Kyu hesitated for a moment, then scratched his forehead and naturally made an excuse to leave.
“Ah, I need to take a break. Take care, then.”

Walking away, Tae Kyu tipped his head back to pour the remaining ice into his mouth and tilted his head in wonder.
“Why am I acting like this? They don’t look alike at all.”
Having finished her classes, Eun Jae hummed a tune as she descended the academy stairs.
―I’ve arrived, come down.
A simple text looked different somehow. It almost seemed to have voice support? She was typing a pleased response when…
“Nuna!”
Turning around, she saw Jung Ho hurrying down the stairs. During the entire class time, his constant questioning about why she hadn’t come to the academy yesterday made her end up telling him pretty much everything that happened.
“So, you’re alright now?”
“Yeah, I’m okay now.”
“Let’s talk. We can share the ride to the bus stop.”
“But you had another class.”

“I had time to step out for a bit.”
Having come down to the front of the academy together, Eun Jae stopped in her tracks as soon as she exited the building.
“Jung Ho, if you keep following me like this, my husband might get the wrong idea.”
Jung Ho seemed not to have heard the latter part of Eun Jae’s warning. He pointed with his index finger somewhere in the distance.
“Oh, there he is again.”
Following the direction of Jung Ho’s finger, Eun Jae turned to see Sun Woo striding towards them with a somewhat displeased look on his face.
“He’s been showing up around here often lately. The academy is all abuzz, saying he’s good-looking. Wonder what he does?”
At Jung Ho’s words, Eun Jae smiled warmly and waved at Sun Woo.
As Jung Ho watched Sun Woo with interest, Sun Woo approached them, his expression unchanged and his gaze fixed on Jung Ho.
Jung Ho took in the man’s piercing gaze and then Eun Jae’s bright smile, quickly piecing together who the man must be.

Sun Woo stepped forward and offered his hand to Jung Ho first.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Yoon Sun Woo, Ji Eun Jae’s husband.”
“Ah, hello. I’m Han Jung Ho.”
Despite his suspicions, it was still surprising to hear it directly. While Jung Ho stared blankly at the man, Sun Woo lifted Eun Jae’s hand, interlocked with his own to show their wedding rings clearly.
“If you’re finished here, may I take her with me?”
“Ah, yes, of course…”
With a light bow from Sun Woo, which Jung Ho mirrored, Jung Ho scratched his head and watched the couple’s retreating backs.
“Wow. That nuna is something else.”
As soon as she turned around, Eun Jae lightly tapped Sun Woo on the back, careful not to hurt him.
“Ease up on the stare, why do you look at people like that?”
“I just told you not to flirt. Now I have to worry about sitting in on your class or something.”

“Oh, really… I could die of embarrassment.”
Grumbling, Eun Jae’s world went dark for a moment before something soft touched and then left her lips.
“Don’t go anywhere today, just stay with me.”
