A tense atmosphere flowed over the table they were sitting across from each other.
Was it just his mood?
It seemed that grandfather’s expression was more relaxed when he was with Eun Jae.
Although he should have been used to the tension of private talks with his grandfather since he was young, this moment was particularly hard for Sun Woo to bear.
After a long silence, Seok Hee, who had put down his tea cup, opened his mouth.
“A promise is a promise, so call the new lawyer to our house tomorrow evening.”
The new lawyer was like a family member who took care of all of grandfather’s overall affairs. He was always by grandfather’s side, even on the day he drafted his will, and the day he suddenly decided to revise it.
“Huh? The new lawyer?”
Was it resolved this easily? The color drained from Sun Woo’s face, who had been tense.
Although it was the moment he had definitely hoped for, strangely he was not happy at all. This situation just felt awkward and flustered.
For a moment, Eun Jae’s voice flitted across Sun Woo’s mind.
“You must keep your promise.”
“The word you said, that you would let me go sooner than the contract term if the work is settled.”

Last night. He thought maybe this marriage, which started as a fake one, might end up as a real one.
Whether Eun Jae would cooperate… he didn’t know.
Last night she clung to his shirt, ready to tear at his lips, but come morning, a cold wind blew instead.
She accused him of making her confused, but the one who actually confused herself was Eun Jae.
Did she misunderstand something in her drunkenness? Yes, there were some sudden aspects indeed.
She said she had someone she liked…
‘Could it be that she got confused with that guy?’
As more thoughts added up, Sun Woo became increasingly anxious. If the will was revised like this and everything went smoothly, he didn’t know if he would face a tragedy of ruthlessly being left behind, after weighing this and that.
‘Just why did the anesthesia have to black out….’
Seeing Sun Woo tapping the table with a serious expression, Seok Hee clicked his tongue.
“Why are you reacting like that? Are you not satisfied just because it’s only the position of a hospital director?”
At Seok Hee’s words, Sun Woo, who had been immersed in various thoughts, suddenly woke up and responded.

“No… No, Grandfather.”
As he continued speaking, Sun Woo’s gaze landed on the marriage registration receipt on the table. Sun Woo quickly cleaned up the receipt from in front of his grandfather’s eyes and added more to his words.
“I only submitted the registration. It hasn’t been processed yet, we haven’t even held a wedding ceremony… and… well…”
“Why are you so flustered?”
With his brows tightly knit, Seok Hee glared at Sun Woo. Sun Woo quickly shoved the folded receipt into his pocket and stood up.
“Anyway, take your time, Grandfather, take your time. You can go slow.”
“Why are you saying to go slow all of a sudden when you were in such a rush?”
“That’s why I’m saying I wasn’t in a hurry…. Let’s talk about this after the wedding ceremony, Grandfather. After all, there’s not much time left. Then I’ll excuse myself first.”
And with that, Sun Woo quickly left his seat without looking back.
“How many times is he going to say ‘take your time’?”
What’s with that unreasonable attitude today?
“So it wasn’t a rushed marriage?”
Tsk With a low tongue click, Seok Hee’s gaze watched Sun Woo’s lightly moving steps for a long time.
Eun Jae belatedly explored the thirdfloor room. It was half the size of the officetel she had been staying in, but it was a cozy and comfortable place.
Exactly the kind of house I wanted.
For a long time, it had been her dream to live worryfree about money with her mother in such a warmfeeling house.
Eun Jae leisurely looked around the living room, leaning back.
Judging from the two doors, it seemed that one was a large room with an attached bathroom, and the other appeared to be an empty room…. That room would probably become mine.

Eun Jae sighed in relief and took another step.
There were traces left everywhere, it was said to be where her childhood was spent. Following those traces with her eyes, she stopped at a picture frame placed on one side of the living room.
It was a picture of Sun Woo when he was young. Eun Jae bent over and looked at the picture of Sun Woo placed on the sideboard.
Round eyes, sharp chin line, prominent nose.
His appearance was already perfect from that time.
He didn’t look much different from now. The child who looked about six years old was staring at the lens with an incredibly chic expression.
Look at that expression, how cute.
“Still the same.”
Chuckling, Eun Jae, scanned the living room with her eyes and leaned back on the sofa across.
Ah…. The day is too long.
It seemed like she had not wasted any of the 24 hours since meeting Sun Woo. She used the time so efficiently that it became a problem.

While waiting for the man, Eun Jae decided to open the gift box she received from Eun Jung.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
