The second floor, where Lilia’s room was located, was currently empty.

Occasionally, a servant would come and go to clean their master’s room, but true to Lilia’s reputation for meticulous tidiness, there was hardly anything to clean.

Liz glanced around briefly to ensure no one was nearby before heading toward Lilia’s room. However, Lilia’s room wasn’t her actual target—her goal was Cain’s room on the same floor.

Reaching the small door at the end of the hallway, Liz carefully turned the doorknob and pushed it open. A faint creak startled her, but fortunately, no one else was around.

Liz successfully stepped inside the room.

‘Wow, so His Highness the Crown Prince lived in a room like this?’

The room was even worse than she’d imagined from descriptions alone.

The walls were covered in dingy wallpaper, and the only furniture consisted of a bed and a wardrobe. Even a modern-day studio apartment from her past life would have seemed more luxurious.

How could someone of such noble status endure living in such a shabby room for nearly ten years?

Liz suddenly realized she’d never once visited his room before. Had she truly liked him, or was it merely simple possessiveness? After all, she’d never been curious enough to learn about his actual living conditions.

Of course, she hadn’t come here out of concern for Cain’s living environment either—Liz had another purpose entirely.

She recalled the original novel’s passage from memory.

「He took out the medicine hidden beneath the third floorboard and swallowed it. Soon after, his appearance changed.」

Following the description precisely, Liz used a folding knife to carefully lift the floorboard three panels to the left from the head of the bed.

“Wow, it’s really here!”
