It was quite an impressionable event, but as time passed, that memory faded like everything else.

Hersys remembered the boy he’d seen that day—black-haired, with eyes of a peculiar blend of red and violet.

Aside from trembling in fear, his appearance bore a striking resemblance to the childhood portrait of his uncle.

Hersys calculated how old his uncle would have been at the time.

Twenty-seven.

‘Hmm… Not entirely implausible, then.’

His uncle had been involved with women from a rather young age. Thus, it was entirely possible that the boy was his uncle’s illegitimate child, and the woman who had wrapped the handkerchief around his arm was once his uncle’s mistress.

He needed to investigate. His sharp intuition demanded it.

Though the mother and son had long since moved out of the house Hersys had infiltrated years ago, there were still plenty of ways to find them.

Hersys remembered the woman’s name—it had been embroidered on the handkerchief she’d tied around his arm that day.
