The man pointed the tip of the sword at the man’s neck, meaning he would end his life in one swift motion. It was too lenient and merciful a punishment compared to the crime committed.

But that was his thought, and to Liz’s eyes, it didn’t look merciful at all.

Liz barely collected her bewildered mind and thought.

She hoped the man would stop here. She hoped the man’s body wouldn’t get any more dirty blood on it.

Of course, thinking of the wicked deeds that the scoundrel had tried to commit or had committed, killing him a hundred times wouldn’t be enough, but she wanted to leave the final judgment to someone else.

Liz ran over unknowingly and hugged the man from behind, then begged.

“Please stop.”

Just as the man was about to stab the sword down, he paused at Liz’s sudden intervention.

“You’ve done enough. So please stop and come with me.”

The once resolute man seemed to hesitate.

Liz, feeling that it was done, released the man’s waist and instead pulled his arm.

“Quickly. Hurry.”

The man briefly looked down at the other man, who was delirious from pain and excessive bleeding, then decided to follow Liz’s words. He threw the sword he was holding onto the ground.

Liz, fearing that he might change his mind, clung to his arm and hurriedly urged him out of the open space.

(This is a time divider.)

“Thank you. For saving me.”

Once they had moved a considerable distance from the open space, Liz finally relaxed, released her arm, and thanked him sincerely.

“……”

But there was no response from the man. He seemed momentarily angry.

Why? Did he think I made him dirty with the blood of those scum?

“Are you not injured?”

Finally, he opened his mouth to ask about Liz’s wellbeing.

It seemed he wanted to ask something else but didn’t.

“I’m fine. Thanks to you.”

“I’m glad I didn’t show up too late.”

The man’s serious expression looked somewhat different from before.

Who was that bloodthirsty killer? Was he the same person as this one?

Gurgle [dash].

A sudden, blatant growl from Liz’s stomach erased the doubt.

Liz blushed, clutching her stomach, and the man asked,

“Have you not eaten yet?”

“Yes……”

She realized she hadn’t eaten.

It wasn’t that she didn’t have money, but her face had not returned, and she was so flustered that she had forgotten about her hunger.

The man took her hand and said,

“Let’s go.”

“Where?”

“To eat something.”

“There won’t be any places open at this time.”

“Just follow me.”

Liz followed the man, led by his hand, in a daze.

She felt a strange obsession in the long, delicate fingers that were entwined with hers.

(This is a time divider.)

There was much she wanted to ask.

What was he doing there at that late hour? Was he really planning to run away from home?
But now, as they held hands and walked down the street, none of that seemed to matter.

The only important thing was that he had found Liz again.

The relief he felt when he finally found her after frantically searching turned quickly into hatred towards the ruffians who had treated her roughly. By the time he came to his senses, his dagger had already left his hand.

What happened after that was carried out with some degree of sanity. Liz did not seem to think so, though.

Suddenly, a breeze blew from across the street.

It was a night wind, carrying the chill of late autumn with its wide temperature range.

Liz glanced at him, as if to see if he was cold in his thin shirt.

She seemed about to ask if he was cold but, knowing that even if he said he was, she wouldn’t take off her clothes to give to him, she seemed to close her mouth again. He chuckled at the sight, finding it quite cute.

Besides, he was not cold.

Although the thin shirt had stolen some of his body heat, being wet in places from sweat, the warmth emanating from the small hand warmer in his hand was enough to keep his entire body warm.

Beggars huddled against the wall, looking up at the two of them.

He recognized a face among them.

It was the man who had told him in his aimless wandering, ‘A woman went towards the construction site.’

Having regained his composure, he tossed a gold coin to the man in thanks.

“Oh, my lord, may you be blessed.”

The man bowed, and other beggars opened their eyes wide and prostrated themselves before him.

He was in a good mood and had plenty of money, so there was no reason not to give.

He generously gave one gold coin to each of them.

“You must have a lot of money?”

He said to Liz, who was teasing him with a smile.

“A lot. And it’s going to be more in the future.”

“I see.”

Liz’s face was as disinterested as expected.

Consistently uninterested in money. That’s why she’s clinging to Kain, who has nothing to look at except his face.

He spat out words that were either sarcasm or praise to himself and suddenly looked back at his words.

It’s going to be more in the future……

If he becomes the master of the empire, of course, he’ll be rich.

But even without that, he has enough money saved to live without worrying about eating and living for a lifetime.

Does he have to live as a rich man, as a powerbroker?

His uncle killed his parents in a clever way.

His son also tried to kill him in a similar way.

The emperor’s seat he wanted so much to get, even by doing that. The throne that he believes will be completely his just after half a year, taking it back defiantly is the most satisfying revenge he can do and the mission his parents left him.

But does it have to be that way?

Liz, who dreams of marrying ordinary writers like Rubent’s heirloom, Count Barlouez, and dreams of a simple married life.

Living as an ordinary couple, as she wishes, is also quite nice.

Children who look half like both parents run around the house,

The wife follows those children, feeding them,

The father, returning from work, fairly lifts his children in both arms and first kisses his wife’s cheek.

Isn’t that life more valuable than one that breaks down others with delight?

The relief at finding Liz again was powerful enough to shake his ten years of resolution, the foundation of his life.

He squeezed little Liz’s hand even tighter.

Liz was surprised and tried to wriggle her hand free… but he did not let go.

Male lead is a Love-Obsessed Merman

When he discovers she has gone, he risks everything to pursue her on land, enduring agonizing pain to transform his tail into human legs…

One-line summary: Male lead chases female lead. The male lead’s love is a bit sick, an invincible love brain.

Synopsis

During a voyage at sea, Jiang Yang accidentally captures a merman.

Servant: I heard that mermen are fierce and brutal.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman obediently rubbing her palm like a puppy: “You call this fierce and brutal?”

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”

With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.

Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?

He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
