Liz’s expression as she stared out the window was calmer than ever before.
Now that everything was out of her hands, the person who had calmly resigned to leaving everything to fate wore a serene expression.
Liz stepped down, testing the floor slowly, and the rocking chair, which she had bought because it was recommended for communication with the baby, began to move gently.
She felt the subtle movements of the baby inside her belly. It was a sign that the baby was feeling good. Now, she could also sense the baby’s mood.
With her body surrendered to the rhythmic movement of the rocking chair, Liz closed her eyes. Over the closed eyelids, the events of the past ten days passed like a fleeting comet.
‘What’s this?’
Ten days ago, she called René to her residence and handed her a folded half-piece of stationery.
‘Unfold it.’
As René unfolded the paper, she frowned and tilted her head. The face that seemed familiar… she remembered where she had seen it. She eventually figured it out herself.
‘This… the crest brooch of the Valdemion family?’
‘Exactly, the design of the crest brooch.’
As Liz said, the paper contained the hand-drawn actual-size lily crest, the number of diamonds to be filled in, and the name and address of the person receiving it.
René, with narrowed eyes, read the name.
‘Elyon… Rozalli?’
‘A real piece of work, a swindler making and selling exact replicas. Show it to him. I’ll pay whatever he asks.’
René had many questions, but she decided to ask them one by one as they came to her.
‘First of all, may I ask, can that person really make the same thing with such a rough sketch?’
‘Yes, he can.’
Liz nodded confidently.
‘He’s the younger brother of the one who made the original. He also assisted his brother’s work. He has a good eye and undoubtedly remembers the design.’
Liz noticed a change in René’s gaze as she looked at her.
‘It may seem sloppy, but it’s subtly meticulous. He even knew where to get smuggled goods like the telescope. Wasn’t that all in the book?’
Liz chuckled.
‘Even if it’s written, would you remember it like you?’
René raised her eyebrows, smiling curiously. Liz continued.
‘Why do you think I’ve been piling up royal documents like a mountain and scrutinizing them so thoroughly? Why do you think I’ve been looking so closely at confiscated goods, smugglers, and the list of contraband merchants?’
She hoped to see Liz’s eyes become calm with enlightenment. By now, she thought Liz would realize that she hadn’t been doing useless things.
But, unfortunately, that was not the case at all.
‘Why would you do such a thing?’
‘…….’
‘You’re not going to see him again, are you?’
René’s eyes were full of condemnation.
Just when I thought I could decorate the grand finale coolly, I felt irritated again because of the actions of a colleague who once again frustrated me.
‘I’m not seeing him. I’m just delaying it for a while.’
Liz firmly stated, fixing her gaze.
I once thought I should give him a chance. Somehow, it felt like that was the only way I wouldn’t regret it.
René sighed and shook her head, meaning it was beyond salvation. However, since she herself was someone who had saved her family through the opportunity Liz gave her, she had no grounds to resist.
“Fine. I’ll join in that damn mercy. From my perspective, what else can I do?”
René added with a sneer.
“But if that traitor kicks away the chance, don’t stop me no matter what I do then.”
“I won’t stop you.”
Liz calmly accepted. René folded the design twice more and tucked it into her chest pocket. Then she asked,
“After making the replica, what should I do next?”
“Swap the genuine and the replica.”
Liz handed over the last piece of the hidden potion just in case.
René happily recognized the identity of the potion. Finally, it seemed like the opportunity for transformation had come for her too.
“Well…”
She mentioned that there might be a bit of discomfort during the transformation, but René, excited about the unknown experience, seemed not to pay much attention. Well… anyway, Liz had clearly said it.
René did a neat job. Excluding the fact that she came back and tried to strangle Liz, there was nothing to complain about.
As the sun began to tilt to the west, it pierced through Liz’s closed eyelids with intense sunlight.
Liz, wrinkling her forehead, shielded her eyes and opened them.
Suddenly, she saw a small blue petal stuck in the corner of the window.
But upon closer inspection, it appeared blue due to the lingering traces of the sunlight; it was actually white.
Is it a dogwood petal? Or a mountain azalea?
The torn edges looked like a torn piece of stationery that someone had scattered.
But now, it didn’t matter what it was.
“We’re almost there.”
Liz lowered her hand from shielding her eyes and, facing the slanting sunlight, mumbled quietly.
Ishar was implicated in the Duke’s scheme just like in the original, accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and a public execution was decided.
Like anyone facing an unwanted death, he would be tormented by conflict.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
