Every step trampled mercilessly on the ground they touched. It was a bee that recklessly emerged on a well-maintained path. Amidst the busy scene of weeds being suppressed underfoot and grasshoppers relocating, the culprit who disturbed their peace reached their destination with relentless steps.

Before them stood a dull gray tower.

Long ago, an astrologer observed stars with the naked eye from this place, but as more scientific methods emerged, it became useless. The changes that such a space commonly experiences were evident throughout the entire building.

Three guards at the entrance noticed Hercesis and one of them kneeled.

“Greetings to His Imperial Majesty.”

“Rise.”

At the weighty voice, they stood up.

Hercesis scanned the tower with his eyes.

“Is he here?”

“Yes, Your Majesty. He is in the top room.”

The captain of the guards spoke.

As Hercesis moved forward, the captain attempted to follow him, just as Sir Clowin had done before.

“I will go alone.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“And…”

Another order from Hercesis was delivered with his head lowered.

The captain rose to follow the command, and the remaining two subordinates unlocked the gate, pulling the door from both sides.

Inside, a pitch-black darkness filled the space like smoke, making even the floor indistinguishable.

Without hesitation, Hercesis entered. Soon after, the soldiers closed the door.

For Hercesis, darkness was similar to a cloudy day or slightly worse. The spiral staircase, designed to twirl along the walls, was visible, of course.

He climbed the stairs quickly and soon reached the top without any signs of fatigue.

Passing a short corridor and entering the innermost part, he saw a wooden door with a brass handle. The gate was not locked.

Hercesis pulled the latch. The creaking sound echoed from the bolt until the door closed.

Considering the humble building, the room was pleasant. It had everything one needed, albeit simple.

Someone rose from a chair close to the wall and approached Hercesis, bowing their head.

“Greetings, Your Majesty.”

It was a calm voice.

In the dim candlelight, Hercesis scrutinized the woman.

A modest appearance, unremarkable personality, average connections, appropriate distribution. And… particularly keen sense.

‘She’s worthy of being used by my uncle.’

“Your name is Seyra, right?” he asked. Upon hearing that, the woman lowered her head even further.

“Yes, Your Majesty. I am Seyra Ronis.”

Hercesis dropped a pouch in front of her.

A solid sound mixed with the clang of metal. The sound alone indicated a considerable amount of gold inside. Seyra looked up at Hercesis with surprised eyes.

“Why give me this?”

“It’s a reward for the mission you carried out successfully.”

“…….”
“In every endeavor, there must be a corresponding price.”

The addition was cold.

It seemed like he was saying that having paid a just price for labor, it was now time to receive a proper reward for playing the role of the Duke of Kruna for the Emperor.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

When it came to Emperor Hercesis, I heard countless things from the person I served with my body and mind.

‘He’s not a man with divinity. If he makes a mistake after using someone thoroughly, he’s a man who would cut the throat without hesitation. Can such a person become the master of the imperial family?’

No, he couldn’t.

Such a person should not become the Emperor. The Emperor had to be someone trustworthy, affectionate, and loving even to humble beings, someone like you, Duke Montaner.

‘You know what to do, Seyra?’

Of course.

Seyra had to buy the heart of the Empress. It started off poorly, but soon she delivered news that the Empress must know and comforted the wounded heart.

She moved a step faster than others by grasping the preferred food, clothing, and the temperature of the favorite bath. These things eventually made the Empress consider me as her close aide, just after Lady Rosa.

All that remained was to make her trust me absolutely and spill all her secrets. It would be better if there was a man hidden from the Empress. It would shake the current Emperor and serve as a foundation for the future, where Duke Montaner would be crowned as the Emperor.

It was almost done, but then…

‘As long as I do what I’m told, he won’t kill me.’

I got caught.

Even when countless spies who uttered the secret password, ‘A crow has its own master,’ disappeared without a sound, I alone remained unscathed. However, I was exposed to the Emperor.

‘Please kill me instead.’

I’d rather die than become this man’s lackey. But…

‘Naturally, you will die as the price for deceiving my woman.’

‘…….’

‘I mean you, not the other side.’

This beastly Emperor aimed a blade at his younger brother’s neck.

He was my only family. Now, at the age of barely twenty, he relied heavily on me, swelling with expectations for the foundation of his life. I couldn’t let him die.

While I could sacrifice my life for justice, my younger brother didn’t have a bright future ahead.

Seyra knelt down.

“Speak. What should I do?”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
