Astraea Continent, Year 725.
Pikelro 23rd.
In the original work, the male lead Hersis took the female lead Lilia to the Tener Plateau, famous for its eucalyptus habitat.
Because Lilia, who had a weak respiratory system, was suffering from frequent colds after moving to the palace, one of the noble ladies had suggested she frequently inhale eucalyptus scent.
Seizing the opportunity for an outing, Hersis cleared an entire day, enjoying a picnic with Lilia from morning till evening at that place.
Thanks to the noble lady’s effective prescription, Lilia didn’t even cough.
As dusk receded behind the western mountains and the sky filled with shades of blue, the groom and escorts who had been waiting at the mountain’s base began to climb the slope to fetch their master.
“Shall we go now?”
Taking the large hand extended to her, the female lead Lilia smiled brightly.
It was then that a silver line was momentarily drawn in the sky.
Shooting stars. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of them adorned the night sky.
It seemed even more beautiful than any high-end crystal chandelier.
While Lilia was staring at the night sky in awe, Hersis suddenly proposed.
“Will you marry me, Lilia?”
The afterglow of the meteor shower flickered in his deep eyes.
Lilia blushed and shyly nodded her head.
There were no flowers, no rings, but instead, shining stars and deep love between them were present.
What more could be needed?
The Emperor gazed softly at Lilia and slowly lowered his face,
And Lilia lifted her chin and closed her eyes to accept his lips.
It seemed that this place would rightly mark the peak of their love with a sweet kiss under a destined revelation. However…
“How did it end up like this?”
Now, the two people standing side by side here had nothing to do with any destined revelations; one had a stern face at the crossroads between life and death, and the other between interest and ennui.
“What’s the matter? Nothing’s happening.”
A woman in men’s clothing spoke. Liz tried hard to hide the tremor in her voice as she replied.
“…Just wait a bit longer. It’ll start soon.”
However, even to Liz, it didn’t seem likely.
The stars that brightened the pitch-black sky seemed as if they were securely fixed with adhesive, only emitting their twinkling light.
“What’s going on here? I may not remember other things, but I’m certain I remember this scene. It was definitely this date.”
Liz was confused. What went wrong, and where did it start?
Could this world itself have been created by an author, where everything merely functions to intensify the love between the male and female protagonists?
Since the two, who had already gone off-script and taken their own paths, no longer needed such a device, could that be why it didn’t happen?
“Ah…”
Liz tightly closed her eyes and sighed inwardly.
It seemed that hypothesis was likely correct. Otherwise, what should have happened would have indeed occurred.
What a fool, Liz Berium. To think she’d bring that scamp here without considering the consequences.
Just as she was anxiously uncertain what to do next, the woman suddenly raised her hand.
“Am… am I going to die?”
Liz felt a chilly sensation sweep through her body.
She had shouted to cough up an extra silver for a sight you can’t buy, so now she might have to pay the price for deceiving her. No, she had to pay it. Definitely.
But even in the face of a clearly visible outcome, her will to live hadn’t diminished. Even in front of a humiliation that made it seem better to just die. Cowardly as it was… even so.
Liz quickly lowered her gaze.
The hill was quite steep. Ignorant or not, if she pushed from here and rolled down to the flat ground below, it would take quite a while to climb back up.
She could probably manage to escape in that time.
Though the woman looked frail enough to seem sickly, her combat skills might be unknown, but Liz felt she had the upper hand in stamina and agility.
“Are you prepared?”
The woman turned to Liz, raising one corner of her mouth.
“Be prepared to pay the price for both theft and lies.”
Liz noticed her hand touching her earring.
“Lying is worse than stealing. I really hate lies.”
Suddenly, the wind blowing from the opposite side of the hill fluttered the woman’s wig bangs. A strand of hair lightly grazed her pale blue eyes, and while the woman rubbed her eyes, she removed her hand from the earring. This was her chance!
“Hyaaah!”
With a mighty shout, Liz charged towards the woman.
However, just as their bodies were about to make contact, the woman remarkably swiftly twisted her shoulder. Thanks to that, Liz ended up facing the slope head-on.
Her body tilted sharply forward.
She couldn’t stop.
Seeing the rapidly approaching slope, Liz clenched her eyes shut.
“……”
By this point, Liz had concluded that it was certain.
The gods must be furious with me for being so foolish. All I ever did was think about escaping, even though I had been reincarnated into a story-packed book.
Who else but me would keep facing these kinds of situations?
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
