The medieval European romance novel ‘Flower of Luzencia.’
That’s the name of the book containing the story of this world into which Liz had been reincarnated.
The content was nothing special. It seemed to be the same old story where Lilia, who was constantly oppressed, overcame adversity and became the mistress of the empire. Liz didn’t even read it properly because it was just another Cinderella story. Of course, if it weren’t her story, it wouldn’t have mattered if she hadn’t read it.
The problem was that the heroine of this story, Lilia, was Liz’s halfsister.
Liz hated her halfsister Lilia, whom her father had brought home from an affair, and constantly tormented her. The harassment grew worse when she learned that Kain, the handsome slave she had secretly harbored feelings for, liked Lilia. And lastly…
The slave Kain was the male protagonist and the longlost crown prince who later became the emperor.
One season later, blinded by jealousy, Liz tried to push Lilia off a cliff but ended up being killed by Kain.
Ah… to die like that. Liz was dumbfounded.
Why did she have to meet such a fate? Without even getting married once?
It was the same in her previous life.

Liz wanted to get married.
In her previous life, she had been tortured with hope for four years by a man she was wrong to fall for. The man would contact her just when she had forgotten him and appear just when she had gotten over him, shaking her newly composed heart. Because of him, she couldn’t meet anyone else in her previous life.
“There’s no one but you. You’re the person I feel most comfortable with.”
He said that as if she were his only sanctuary and then married a woman who was so excited about marriage that she was restless.
She thought then.
It seemed that a sanctuary didn’t have to be a spouse… she mused.
That day, she drank heavily in her broken heart and didn’t see a truck coming as she crossed the road, thus departing from the world.
She had never been more grateful for the life she had lived as a dependent in her foster parents’ and relatives’ homes. If she had left people to mourn, she would have had a lot of regrets.
Anyway, now that she knew, she couldn’t go so vainly.
Liz was determined.

To change.
“Kain…”
She hesitated for a moment whether to add ‘sir’ or not, but she decided to call him as usual, so as not to give the impression that she noticed her true identity.
“Speak, Miss.”
Kain said with a smile in his eyes. The pretty eyesmile he habitually made, regardless of his inner thoughts, would have turned her eyes upside down in the past, but
“From now on, take care of Lilia. Not me.”
Not now.
(This is a time separator.)
Kain had worked at the Verium estate for ten years. Lilia had been in the house for one year. Since their paths had rarely crossed, the relationship between Kain and Lilia had not yet gone beyond that of the second young mistress and slave.
The start of a real romance required the villain’s torment, but that villain was no longer thinking of acting like a villain.

So she had no choice but to find another way.
Liz planned to replace her role as the villain by bringing the two together.
They had to see each other often for love to sprout, and so he would take her back when he returned to the imperial palace.
The timing was a little earlier than in the original work, but it didn’t seem like a big problem.
It was a relationship that was going to fall in love anyway, so it might be better to get together sooner.
She thought Kain would naturally like it. To get away from the tiresome young mistress. But then,
“Miss, please have your meal.”
The next day, Liz could not help but be astonished when she saw Kain, who had come with her breakfast and a bright smile, as usual.
“Why, why are you here?”
“Why am I here?”

Kain said, putting the food on the bedside table, in a tone as if asking why she would ask.
“I came to give Miss her breakfast.”
“But I told you to take care of Lilia.”
“Was that really your intention?”
Really… did you mean it?
“I thought you were just saying it. You sometimes say things like that when you’re seriously hurt.”
Liz now understood.
Kain thought he must have spoken out of turn in his unstable state after the accident.
“No, I was serious. I’m fine.”
“Don’t you seem so?”
Kain said, looking down at Liz’s legs.

“Your legs, you still can’t move them properly.”
Come to think of it…
Liz looked down at her legs, which hadn’t fully recovered their nerves.
Her legs had been temporarily paralyzed due to a shock to the spine at the time of the accident. Fortunately, sensation had returned before long, but the problem was that the legs couldn’t gain strength.
The doctor said it would take a few more weeks to fully recover.
It was fine to move around the room or corridor in a wheelchair, but the problem was the stairs. It was impossible to climb up and down without someone carrying her.
Kain was the only strong servant in this house, so who else could be asked if not Kain?
Mirabel was a bit…
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
