Su Young rummaged through her closet and pulled out every formal-style outfit she owned.

Since her unemployed days had dragged on, she barely had anything suitable to wear to events. Her current job didn’t require much attention to clothing either. Maybe she should buy some new clothes.

But buying an outfit just for a wedding that might happen once a year—if even that—was utterly ridiculous.

“Su Young, time to eat!”

Young Soon’s voice called from outside. Su Young grabbed two blouses and stepped out of her room.

“Mom, I told you I’m going to a wedding! I need to eat properly there, so I can’t eat now.”

“But you didn’t even have breakfast.”

Her daughter always woke up late and combined breakfast with lunch, so Young Soon had gone to the trouble of preparing a proper meal today since she was home—but the girl insisted on skipping another meal.

Young Soon’s frown deepened with quiet frustration.

Yet oblivious to her mother’s feelings, Su Young casually held up both blouses and asked, as if nothing were wrong,

“Mom, which one looks better? This one’s collar is wrinkled, and this one’s pocket is wrinkled. I’m going to wear a beige raincoat on top—so which one will hide the wrinkles better?”

Both blouses were equally crumpled, as if they’d been buried deep in the closet for ages—not just the collars and pockets.

Young Soon sighed lightly and snatched the white blouse from her daughter’s hand.

“I’ll iron it for you.”
