Someone plopped down in front of Su Young, who was clutching her head in frustration, breathing heavily. It was Mi Jin, who worked as a teacher in Incheon.

“Why are you so late?”

Su Young directed her anger about her goldfish-grade memory toward her innocent friend. Unaware of the real reason, Mi Jin gave an awkward smile and replied,

“Sorry, sorry. The vice principal suddenly asked me to do something, and while I was handling that… What did they ask? Nothing important! Over here!”

Mi Jin raised her hand, and a server approached. They each ordered stir-fried pork and doenjang jjigae. Though they ordered separately, they’d inevitably share anyway, so ordering different dishes made more sense.

“Have you ever blacked out completely after drinking? Like, absolutely zero recollection?”

While waiting for their food, Su Young asked seriously. Mi Jin wiped her hands with a damp towel and replied nonchalantly,

“No. Even if I couldn’t remember at first, it usually came back later. Why? Did you blackout after drinking?”

“Yeah. After wine.”

“How strong was it?”

“I don’t know. It tasted good, though.”

“Even if it tastes good, wines vary in alcohol content—some can be really strong.”

“Then maybe I had one of those? But I remember the people I drank with.”

“You probably drank more than them. Who were you with? Who did you drink with that made you blackout completely?”
