Visible Love (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
It was already past 4 p.m. Has he left yet? Earlier, she’d heard someone lingering outside her door as if urging her to eat lunch, but she ignored it.
According to the news, it really was abnormal weather. They said it was the earliest first snow in decades. Maybe I should’ve told her to go experience this weather anomaly herself, even alone.
With a heavy heart, she opened her door—and heard a faint sound from somewhere nearby. Has he not left yet? Who’s he talking to now?
“It’s not hard at all. Uh… How’s your back, Aunt? …Really? That’s a relief. …You absolutely can’t be discharged yet! How would you even move around alone at home? …Hospital bills? Didn’t you say you had supplemental insurance? The insurance payout should cover it! If you get discharged now, you’ll definitely get infected again. …Exactly! Just stay at the hospital with the hired caregiver. …Me? I’m seriously fine! It’s a dream job, a total dream job. …Yeah. The landlord’s really nice too. …I’m telling you, it’s true. It’s not like there’s much time left anyway. …Okay, got it. I’ll come by tonight. Bye.”
After ending her call with Young Mi, Su Young looked at the dining table. The well-prepared meal and side dishes had all gone cold, hardening and drying out. Maybe I should’ve just eaten alone. Should I eat now, even at this hour?
Just then, she noticed a large figure standing in the kitchen doorway. Without realizing it, Su Young cheerfully called out,
“You’re out? Are you hungry?”
“Why haven’t you left yet?”
Woo Jin asked in a slightly hoarse voice. Her earlier words—about the landlord being kind and “not much time left”—somehow stuck in his chest.
“I wanted to have a meal with you before leaving, Seol Woo Jin. Is it lunchtime or dinnertime now? We can just combine them. I’ll reheat the rice. The side dishes all looked so delicious—I really struggled not to eat them earlier.”
“…You haven’t eaten either?”
“Of course not. A subordinate can’t eat before their boss does.”
As she casually said this while heating the rice in the microwave, Woo Jin rubbed his forehead and muttered,
“What boss?”
“Don’t you like ‘boss’? Then how about ‘owner’ or ‘employer’?”
“From now on, even if I don’t eat, you should eat by yourself. Don’t you always say you’re hungry when you come here?”
“But I already told you—I can’t eat alone. I need someone sitting across from me to eat. What kind of employee benefits are this inconsistent? Hurry up and sit down already. The side dishes are about to dry into brittle husks.”
Su Young placed the freshly warmed rice bowl in front of him. Woo Jin walked with precise steps to the dining table and sat down. He was hungry enough that the savory aroma of the banchan smelled especially delicious.
“To your exact front, in a diamond shape—topmost is stir-fried squid, below that is beef jeon, to the right of that… what’s this? Shrimp and… garlic scapes? Some kind of stir-fry, and below that…”
“What about the abnormal weather?”
Caught off guard by the sudden question, Su Young stopped explaining the side dishes mid-sentence.
“It stopped?”
Su Young looked toward the kitchen window and answered,
“Yes, it stopped. It’s an anomaly—if it kept going, what would we do?”
“…What if I missed seeing it?”
“It’s fine—I saw it from the living room. You can see it really well from Seol Woo Jin’s living room.”
“Why didn’t you go out and experience it yourself, even alone?”
“What’s the fun in doing it alone?”
Su Young chuckled softly and took a bite. Fortunately, both the rice and side dishes were still tasty. As food filled her previously empty stomach, her mood lifted, and she began chattering again.
“Do you know what my wish was back in college? To see the first snow with my boyfriend. I used to watch girls with boyfriends call each other excitedly whenever the first snow fell, and I was so jealous. The ultimate example… that girl’s married now—her boyfriend came all the way to her university with a bouquet made entirely of snow-white baby’s breath. And right in the center was a single red rose—or something similar—and everyone shrieked in awe. Honestly, that guy wasn’t even that good-looking, but for some reason, he looked incredibly handsome that day. That’s exactly why people say the right accessory makes all the difference… hehe.”
“So you wanted to see the snow with me today?”
Woo Jin asked quietly. Su Young suddenly wondered if that was really why she’d done it. It had been so abrupt—asking him out of nowhere to go see the snow together. Since when had they gotten that close?
Yet, saying outright that she thought of him as her boyfriend would feel like a blow to her pride, so she quickly covered it up.
“No, I just wanted you to touch the snow since it’s this year’s first snow.”
“I can’t do that.”
“What?”
“See the first snow with you.”
“…”
“I’ll never be able to do that in my whole life.”
“Well… I never asked you to see it with me my whole life, did I?”
Embarrassed, Su Young pouted. But Woo Jin, unable to see her pout, fixed his beautiful eyes on her and said,
“But… I’ll try… I’ll try my best to be there with you instead.”
What?
Su Young’s eyes widened. He was offering to share the first snow with her? Somehow, it sounded even more romantic than simply saying “let’s watch the snow together,” and she stared at him without moving a muscle.
“Stop staring and eat your rice.”
Woo Jin quietly picked up a piece of beef jeon with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth.
“Huh? Oh… okay.”
Suddenly, her heart fluttered, and around her, tiny white snowbell flowers began blooming softly once again.
[This is the timeline separator]As Seol Ji Hyun entered the front door, he spotted small shoes right by the entrance and cautiously stepped into the hallway.
Trending
“…Seriously, isn’t that insane? Right in front of so many people! If it were me, I’d be so embarrassed I’d crawl under the table—but So Ra was actually bragging about it. They really are made for each other.”
Hearing a cheerful yet quiet female voice from the kitchen, Ji Hyun froze in place. Then, a familiar tenor voice immediately followed,
“Don’t eavesdrop—just come in, Seol Ji Hyun.”
Startled, Ji Hyun quickly entered the kitchen. On the dining table sat coffee cups, and Su Young and Woo Jin were facing each other.
“Haven’t you left yet, Miss Su Young?”
Ji Hyun asked warmly upon seeing her, and Su Young smiled brightly in reply,
“I’m staying a bit longer. I didn’t want Seol Woo Jin to get bored.”
“You’re probably the one who’s bored.”
Woo Jin replied indifferently, though his expression wasn’t unpleasant at all. Deeply moved, Ji Hyun sat down beside Woo Jin—but Woo Jin immediately scowled and scooted away.
Even though they’re family, is he really that averse to physical closeness? Yet, he’d allowed Su Young to touch him multiple times before—which unexpectedly made her feel grateful.
Didn’t that mean she was closer to him than his own family? Or maybe… have I been unthinkingly imposing on him this whole time without considering how uncomfortable I might have made him?
Just because Woo Jin had moved away from Ji Hyun, her thoughts immediately spiraled.
[This is the timeline separator]“Have you tried the side dishes?”
Ji Hyun asked Woo Jin kindly. Woo Jin wordlessly nodded.
As soon as Su Young had left, Woo Jin’s light seemed to fade instantly, reminding Ji Hyun of Dr. Kang’s words:
—Ji Hyun, you should find a way for that young lady to keep visiting.
“A way…”
He muttered it unconsciously, and Woo Jin looked up at him.
“What way?”
“Oh—nothing…”
“Just grab dinner on your own later. I had a late lunch, so I’m not hungry.”
As Woo Jin stood up, Ji Hyun looked up at him and said,
“There’s a memorial event tomorrow…”
He knew Woo Jin wouldn’t go, but he felt he had to mention it anyway. Predictably, Woo Jin twisted his sharp features into a scowl and snapped,
“It’s already been ten years—why do they keep holding that stupid memorial every year? What changes anyway? Will the dead come back to life?”
“It’s just about meeting each other for comfort.”
“Comfort? What comfort! Just pointless complaints to each other…”
Suddenly, Woo Jin clamped his mouth shut, and his face quickly turned red. Seeing him momentarily stop breathing, Ji Hyun immediately jumped to his feet.
“Woo Jin!”
“…Just go.”
Woo Jin staggered unsteadily into his room. Soon, the faint wheezing sound of a nebulizer came through the slightly ajar door.
[This is the timeline separator]Yeon Ho greeted Su Young cheerfully as she shuffled into the chicken shop wearing sleep pants.
“Senior So—what brings you here so late?”
“It’s only 9 p.m.—how is that late? Oh, did Mom tell you not to let me out?”
“No, not that. Did your cram school classes finish?”
“Yeah. We had a mock exam today.”
Seeing Yeon Ho’s gloomy expression, Su Young asked sympathetically,
“Did you bomb it?”
“I completely bombed it.”
“Mock exams and the real thing are always different. You’ll do great on the actual test.”
“The results should be out by now… No matter how I look at it, I think I failed again. Maybe I should just practice writing personal statements instead.”
“I heard it’s really hard to get into private schools unless you have alumni, regional, or family connections.”
“There must be places that hire fairly. We’ll find them.”
Yet his tone lacked confidence.
“Did you see the snow today?”
Su Young brightly changed the subject.
“Yeah, it started falling while I was heading to my major class. Isn’t the first snow usually in November, mostly in mountainous Gangwon Province? First snow in Seoul in October?”
“It’s abnormal weather.”

“I should’ve watched the first snow with you, Su Young… Such a shame.”
He subtly confessed his feelings, but Su Young just grinned and replied,
“I watched it alone? Not me—I saw it with a guy.”
Technically, they hadn’t really watched it together, but since he was right there beside her, it basically counted as watching it together.
At her words, Yeon Ho’s eyes narrowed sharply.
“A guy? Which guy?”
“There is one.”
“Are you dating someone?”
“I really want to date someone—if only there were a handsome guy around.”
“Dude, look nearby—right nearby!”
Yeon Ho earnestly pitched himself, but Su Young only laughed it off. His persistent advances had been famous since their freshman year of college.
Everyone used to say, “Senior Yeon Ho clearly likes you, Su Young.” She’d believed it herself—and even felt her heart flutter.
But while pushing so hard on her, Yeon Ho had officially started dating another senior girl. Su Young felt like a fool.
Yet even while dating someone else, he remained kind and gentle toward her. Sometimes he’d even tease her cutely, asking why she didn’t see him as a guy.
It wasn’t until his third—or was it fourth—girlfriend came to Su Young asking her to “let go of Oppa Yeon Ho” that Su Young finally closed that chapter.
He didn’t really like her—he was just keeping her as his safety net, his last resort.
Even now, while claiming he couldn’t date anyone else because he was preparing for the teacher certification exam, he was still openly pursuing her like this.
Mi Jin had advised her to cut off guys like Senior Yeon Ho immediately, but Su Young didn’t mind grabbing meals and chatting with him.
Maybe it’s nice to have a guy friend. After all, she no longer got flustered around him like in freshman year—so she felt safe.
To her, So Yeon Ho was her last resort too. She decided to see it that way.
“If you want to date someone, date me. Me.”
Content with her “last resort” playing his part appropriately, Su Young chuckled softly.
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t date anyone until you pass the certification exam, Senior So?”
“I’m saying I’d make an exception—for you.”
“Ha, what are you talking about.”
“Just remember—I’m always right beside you.”
Yeon Ho took a sip of beer and said gently. Despite his persistent efforts since freshman year, Su Young remained impenetrable.
She saw him only as a senior—never as a man. Other girls would’ve become his girlfriend the moment he turned on the charm like this.
To her, he’d always just be “Senior So.”
Even when he talked about his girlfriends, she’d defend them from a fellow woman’s perspective—never showing a shred of jealousy.
Maybe it’s because all her close friends are lifelong singles—they just don’t get it.
He planned to propose as soon as he passed the exam and got officially hired. He hoped Su Young would find a job by then too.
A teacher’s salary might barely cover the two of them—but adding kids would be impossible without dual income. Yet, this girl showed zero interest in employment.
But seriously—who did she watch the first snow with? At that time—around 3 p.m.—she should’ve been at her part-time job. Whom could she have met there?
Still, doing part-time work seemed to suit her; she looked much brighter lately. Back when she spent all her time buried in libraries and bookstores, she always seemed sluggish.
But why a housekeeper, of all things? At least it’s only for three weeks—but he wished she’d gain a bit more awareness of reality.
If she worked full-time as a cram school instructor, the pay would be decent and stable. Why was she so insistent on part-time work only?
“How’s the part-time job? Is it manageable?”
“Yeah. Employee benefits are pretty good—they feed me and even give my eyes a treat.”
She left out the part about struggling to force-feed someone who won’t eat, and how her ears sometimes felt like they’d rot instead of her eyes being refreshed.
“Eye candy? See something nice?”
“Yeah. There’s a gorgeous… painting at the house.”
“Oh, right—you love paintings.”
Yeah. And it even moves around. And talks too—but she kept to herself her wish that it’d talk a bit less.
“Is the family rich?”
In Yeon Ho’s mind, an image formed of a grand mansion adorned with exquisite artworks.
“I guess so.”
“Really? Then wouldn’t cleaning that place alone be tough for you?”
“It’s not a mansion—just a large apartment. I can sweep it quickly with a mop, and there’s not much to do. I’m only doing light chores—just enough to avoid getting scolded by my aunt.”
“What does the landlord do for a living?”

“His job? I’m not sure.”
He seemed as unemployed as Su Young, but being born with a silver spoon made him fundamentally different from her.
Hearing this, Yeon Ho figured that since she only worked for a few hours during the day, the landlord was probably out when she visited—so it made sense she didn’t know his occupation.
“So… about two weeks left? Is your aunt feeling better?”
“Yeah. But she still feels pain when moving around.”
“Do you think she’ll be able to work again?”
Honestly, he occasionally wished his aunt could rest a bit longer.
Even though the landlord wasn’t great, quitting somehow felt regretful—solely because of his face. That damn face.
Apparently, her thoughts showed on her face, because Yeon Ho said earnestly,
“You can’t keep working there just because your aunt can’t. Being a housekeeper is a job you can do even when you’re older. I don’t think it’s right for someone your age to settle into that kind of job already.”
Yeah—that’s the common perspective. But honestly, Su Young couldn’t help wondering: must certain jobs really be reserved only for when you’re older?
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
