Woo-jin sipped his coffee nonchalantly. Courtesy? More like a relationship disaster.
Soo-yeong retorted sarcastically.
“And have you told that woman about kissing me? The one with the innocent voice yesterday?”
“That woman?”
“Yeah, the innocent-sounding woman from yesterday.”
“Would you like her to know?”
“Huh?”
This was a new perspective. Did she want the other woman to know? Wait, why is the question even phrased like this?
“If she wants to know, I’ll tell her. Even now.”
As Woo-jin took out his phone, Soo-yeong grabbed his hand in panic.
“What, what? You’re going to tell her over the phone now?”
“Yeah. Didn’t you say she should know?”
“When did I?”
“You just did.”
“No, I didn’t!”
“Then forget it.”
He casually put his phone back in his pocket.
Soo-yeong trembled with clenched fists. There must be more to his birth dream than just branches. There must be a raccoon too.
She wanted to bring his mother over and seriously ask her.
“I want to meet Woo-jin’s mother. I have so many questions.”
She accidentally spoke her thoughts aloud. Woo-jin looked at her sympathetically.
“Go to India. She lives there.”
Huh? India? Not the U.S.? The country was so unexpected that Soo-yeong hesitated for a moment.
“Let her know. Her husband is dead, and her son is living as punishment for killing his father. Got it?”
Despite understanding the words, Soo-yeong couldn’t comprehend them and just stared dumbly at his amber eyes.
Occasionally, the way he nonchalantly uttered such terrifying words made her wonder how accustomed one must become to their pain to speak like that.
Even though he knew she was watching, Woo-jin just continued to drink his coffee. Then, aligning his gaze with hers, he asked,
“The long-term contract condition…”
“Huh?”
“Can’t it be something else?”
What was the long-term contract condition again? With so much happening lately, she had forgotten. So she instinctively replied,
“No, it can’t.”
“Alright. Then let it be.”
Wondering what he meant, Soo-yeong looked intently at Woo-jin.
“Just five minutes. After five minutes, I’ll come back in.”
At the mention of five minutes, she suddenly became alert. A five-minute walk. Outside. Is he suggesting they do that now? Soo-yeong’s expression brightened.
Eating, sleeping, and now even walking? Is this what it feels like to be a mother raising a child? But fearing too enthusiastic a response might provoke him again, she replied as nonchalantly as she could.
“Deal!”
Woo-jin’s eyebrows immediately furrowed.
“Don’t use English unnecessarily. Your pronunciation isn’t even good…”
Standing beside his car parked in front of the complex, Yeon-ho looked every bit the professional.
“Wow… do you look like a teacher?”
As Soo-yeong clapped her hands and spoke, Yeon-ho smiled and replied.
“The school’s buzzing since I arrived. The students are excited, and so are the teachers.”
“I’m not sure about the handsome part, but you’re definitely single. Are there many young female teachers at your school?”
“Well, being a private school, there are overwhelmingly more male than female teachers, but it seems almost all the female teachers, except the department heads, are single.”
“You should snag one of them.”
“Hey, if you date at school, one of you has to quit. No school romances allowed.”
“Really? That’s a shame.”
Soo-yeong chuckled and climbed into the passenger seat.
“But why were you at that house for so long? A lot of work?”
As Yeon-ho started the car, Soo-yeong buckled her seatbelt and replied.
“Just chatting with the homeowner.”
Yeon-ho looked surprised and turned to her.
“With the homeowner? Why is the homeowner at home at this hour?”
“He works from home. Says he’s an unknown writer.”
“Don’t tell me, it’s a man?”
“Yeah. A man.”
“Hey! Kim Soo-yeong!”
Yeon-ho suddenly yelled, startling Soo-yeong.
“Ah, you scared me. Why are you shouting like that…”
“How can you work as a housekeeper in a man’s house? Don’t you realize how dangerous that is?”
“I understand your concern, but there’s no need to worry about this homeowner.”
“Why? Does he have a wife?”
“No, not that, but…”
“Then I should be worried! You know men are all wolves. Even with the strength to hold a spoon, don’t you know what they’re capable of?”
At his words, Soo-yeong glanced at him and said,
“Then isn’t it dangerous for me to be alone in the car with Senior Soo? What might you do to me?”
Embarrassed, Yeon-ho turned his face away.
“Hey, what do you take me for… What would I do in a car, picking you up…”
“Same with the homeowner. So don’t worry.”
As Soo-yeong spoke nonchalantly, Yeon-ho sighed.
“You really don’t understand men. Your job will end soon, right? Quit as soon as your aunt gets better. This job is more dangerous than I thought.”
“No, it’s not.”
Soo-yeong gestured to get going and smiled. Yeon-ho gripped the steering wheel tightly. How to deal with this naive girl?
Sitting side by side in the library, Yeon-ho glanced at Soo-yeong as she flipped through her book. Her pale cheeks and penguin-like lips unknowingly made his heart flutter.
He had planned to officially ask her out once she got a job, but for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Even while sharing tteokbokki earlier, the words just circled his tongue but never came out.
When to ask her out? Should he wait until she officially finds a job? But does she even plan to find a job?
On the drive over, Soo-yeong mentioned she might work at that house even longer. He couldn’t understand why a young, capable person like her would want to continue working as a housekeeper.
Is there something going on between Soo-yeong and the homeowner? Considering it’s a high-end apartment, the homeowner must be a somewhat older man, a single middle-aged writer.
The more Yeon-ho thought about it, the more twisted his judgment became. This naive girl doesn’t realize how dangerous her situation is, focusing only on the short hours and high pay.
Two hours a day for two hundred is indeed a decent pay. How does an unknown writer have so much money? Stock market, maybe?
But that wasn’t the point. It was embarrassing to tell anyone that his girlfriend was working as a housekeeper. Maybe he should talk to the vice principal to check for any vacancies in nearby schools. She does have a teacher’s certification.
While Yeon-ho was busy worrying about Soo-yeong’s future and making various plans, Soo-yeong, though her eyes were on her book, was replaying Woo-jin’s voice in her head.
“Just five minutes. After five minutes, I’ll come back in.”
What would a walk with him be like? Walking with David, everyone would stare. What if they thought she was some rich, flashy girlfriend?
Yet, it didn’t matter to her. She was already thinking of looking up on YouTube how to walk with a visually impaired person. She wanted to do it well enough that he wouldn’t want to return home.
However, Soo-yeong was about to experience firsthand from the next day that this was not going to be an easy task.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
