While Soo-young was fervently praying in gratitude, a series of loud crashes came from Woo-jin’s room. She was curious about what happened but too scared to check. It sounded like Woo-jin was angrier than she had ever heard him before. The sounds he made seemed inhuman.
Soo-young wanted to escape the house for safety, but her clothes were completely soaked. She thought about whether she should leave some clothes at this house, recalling a previous incident when she spilled ramen soup.
When she tried to call Seol Ji-hyeon to report, she realized her phone was missing. She wondered if she had dropped it in the bathroom.
Quietly, Soo-young turned around to peek into Woo-jin’s room. She pushed the door slightly with her finger, but it was empty. She thought she had dropped her phone in the bathroom but didn’t have the courage to go and fetch it.
Suddenly, she worried that Woo-jin might step on her phone and fall. Imagining a news headline accusing her of causing Woo-jin’s accidental death, she panicked and rushed to the bathroom door. However, to her surprise, it was empty.
“Where did he go? Where’s the body?” she wondered aloud.
A chilling voice from behind her asked, “What’s gone? Who’s a body?”
Startled, Soo-young screamed and fell backward on the bathroom floor, feeling as if she broke her tailbone, but she couldn’t even cry out in pain.
Woo-jin, now dressed in a V-neck T-shirt and sweatpants, was looking down at her with a frightening gaze. His amber eyes seemed to sparkle, and he was holding Soo-young’s phone.
“You… now just barge into these rooms too?” he asked sternly.
“No, I didn’t mean to… it was the representative, Seol Ji-hyeon, he…” Soo-young tried to explain, insisting that it was Ji-hyeon who instructed her to enter.
Realizing her soaked white T-shirt was revealing her pink underwear, Soo-young covered herself and yelled, “What are you looking at? Pervert!”
Woo-jin’s face showed his typical disbelief, and he became curiously wondering if she was as undressed as he had been earlier.
Woo-jin slowly knelt down in front of Soo-young. As his pumpkin-colored pupils drew nearer, she instinctively moved her hips back and muttered, “What, what is it? Are you trying to look closely?”
Soo-young’s arms, which were covering her body, tensed. “If I knew it would be like this, I would have worn prettier underwear. What am I thinking? Do I actually want to show him?”
While she was having an internal conflict, Woo-jin slowly reached out his long arm towards her.
“Why, why, why? Where are you touching?” she exclaimed as his fingertips lightly brushed her shoulder and then withdrew. He chuckled disappointingly, “So you are wearing clothes.”
Soo-young thought incredulously, “He checked if I was dressed?”
“Can’t you tell without touching? Are you really a pervert?”
“I am Woo-jin, and as I’ve said about ten times now, I can’t see. So I have to check with my hands.”
“Who is Lee Soo-young? Why do you brothers keep changing people’s names? And why do you need to check if I’m dressed or not?”
“It’s Kim Soo-young,” she corrected.
“Anyway, you are wearing clothes, so why are you acting like you’re not?”
“You splashed water on me! So everything got wet!”
“You are still wearing clothes, right? I was completely undressed earlier.”
At his words, the image of the David statue she had seen earlier flashed in Soo-young’s mind, and she quickly shut her mouth.
“You would have, as a woman with basic manners, either closed your eyes or turned away,” Woo-jin said, still kneeling in front of her. His voice had a chilly tone, causing Soo-young to involuntarily swallow.
“But when I heard your voice earlier, you were facing me and did not close your eyes, right?”
Soo-young couldn’t reply. Although she realized she lacked basic manners, admitting it was another matter.
Woo-jin stood up, and Soo-young’s head moved with his tall frame.
“How did you like it?”
“What?”
“You held your breath again?”
“Heh… heh…”
“So, you did?”
His voice, once filled with a scream, had returned to a soft tone.
“Must have been quite a sight.”
“No, it wasn’t!”
Honestly, it was. She now fully understood why her relatives repeatedly said, ‘If only he wasn’t blind.’
Suddenly, Woo-jin reached out his hand towards her.
“Since I can’t see, stop covering yourself and get up. There are clothes in the sliding door closet. Just take something that seems to fit from the drawer. Don’t touch anything else; it makes it hard for me to pick my clothes if they are moved.”
Soo-young hesitated for a moment before taking his hand, unable to tell whose body heat was in their clasped hands.
Woo-jin was infuriated by Soo-young’s intrusion into his private space. However, his anger quickly turned to concern when he heard the sound of slipping and her scent suddenly disappearing.
Did she slip on the tile? Did she fall? Was she hurt?
This bathroom was remodeled with non-slip tiles even when wet, specifically for Woo-jin. But if she had slipped and fallen, she could have been seriously hurt like on any other tile.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
