When Yeonho tried to grab her arm to support her, Sooyoung subtly avoided him.
Yeonho was used to this level of skinship, but since she got a boyfriend, she unconsciously avoided it.
Knowing that she was dating the writer, Yeonho, who heard about it, didn’t force her to stay.
They would break up soon, anyway, but for now, since they met.
Perhaps because it was late, there weren’t many people in the neighborhood coffee shop.
The two of them, sitting in one corner, didn’t have much conversation even after sitting face to face.
Until now, this was the first time it was so awkward to meet him.
Unable to withstand this atmosphere, Sooyoung spoke first.
“How’s school?”
“Well, it’s the same every day. Going to five classes and the same content blah blah… The kids don’t listen at all…”
“Are the kids okay?”
“I thought they were okay, so I treated them too well. Now that I’ve revealed my true colors, it’s chaos during class.”
“So Senior can’t handle it? Eun’s mom told me never to smile when entering the classroom. She said you’ll lose in a psychological fight if you smile?”
“Why didn’t you tell me that earlier…”
“Did you already lose?”
“I lost from the beginning.”
“Tsk tsk…”
As they shared their trivial daily lives, the awkward atmosphere naturally disappeared. Yeonho, waiting for her, felt the lingering sense of loss, inexplicable betrayal, and jealousy gradually fading away.
“Are you still with that person… are you still dating?”
When Yeonho cautiously asked, Sooyoung leisurely replied, as if expecting the question, after sipping her fruit juice.
“What do you mean, ‘still’? It hasn’t even been a few days.”
“Did you tell your mother?”
“It hasn’t been a few days yet.”
“When it’s been a few days, can you tell her?”
“What else are you saying…”
“Do you think your mother will approve?”
“Again, you’re going ahead. Anyway, Senior worries too much about the future.”
Ironically, the person who should be concerned scolded, and Yeonho, even as he sipped his fruit juice, didn’t taste its flavor.
“Hey, you should think about these things in advance. What if you just rush into it?”
“I’ll talk about it when we decide to get married.”
“Wha… marriage…?”
Yeonho’s face contorted in shock.
“Are you really thinking about marrying that guy? Are you out of your mind?”
Even though Wujin has a disability, Sooyoung felt uncomfortable receiving such questioning about his mental state repeatedly.
Ah… I shouldn’t have said anything…
“Are you attracted to him because he’s rich?”
“Huh? How do you know he’s rich?”
“I saw it this afternoon. A black imported car came to pick you up, right?”
Forget that it was there since the afternoon; she got too excited and forgot her resolution not to mention it. Still, Sooyoung’s round eyes widened even more.
“What? It was there since the afternoon? You didn’t go to work today?”
“It was the school’s founding day. Whose car was that?”
“No, it’s not his. It’s his grandfather’s.”
“Huh? Why did his grandfather send you a car?”
“He asked me to come comfortably because of my leg. It seems he requested it.”
If his grandfather sent a car, it wasn’t an ordinary relationship. There’s no reason to send a car to a housekeeper.
Yeonho’s mouth watered at the thought. No matter how much he thought about it, it wasn’t just a writer. What is it? What’s going on?
“What does his grandfather do?”
“I don’t know. But he’s the chairman.”
“What? The chairman? Which company?”
“I don’t know. But it seems he used to be an actor.”
“Huh? He was an actor and now he’s a chairman?”
Yeonho’s head spun in confusion at the strange story.
“He asked who you were. How would I know the chairman?”
“No, then you should ask him at least.”
“What does your grandfather do? Why would you ask such a thing?”
Honestly, I was curious, but what was the point of asking? Seol Woo-jin’s grandfather never came to the hospital, never entered the room.
Woo-jin has never mentioned his grandfather’s story. He said his father died, receiving punishment for killing him. Then, he would have been a son to his grandfather.
After speculating about various things, it was clear that the two didn’t have a particularly good relationship.
His father died, his mother lives in India, and he has a strained relationship with his grandfather.
The more she learned about why Woo-jin had such a prickly personality, the more her heart went out to him.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
