Ordinary people are not so sensitive to sound.
However, visually impaired people have to discern everything through sound and touch, so their ears are inevitably sensitive.
Especially Woo-jin, who only lived indoors, was more so.
Sounds that regular people, who rely on vision, might think are insignificant were gratingly irritating to him.
But explaining all this to this woman seemed too bothersome and annoying.
Yesterday, she demanded a contract, and now she thinks I’m intentionally finding fault to drive her away. It seems I’ve been pegged as quite the villain.
But why am I even bothering about what this woman thinks of me?
Besides, why did I even agree to let her keep coming? Ji-hyun was puzzled too. Didn’t I hate visitors? I didn’t answer. I didn’t know why myself.
Maybe I needed some absurd recharge. Yes, I need new stimuli to write, but letting this woman in might be the biggest mistake of my life.
“Don’t drag the slippers. I’m not looking for an excuse to kick you out.”

He says he’s not nitpicking, but from Soo-young’s perspective, hearing slippers dragging inside from his room was unbelievable.
“Honestly, I don’t even know if you’re in your room. I can’t hear any noise from there. But you heard my slippers?”
“Woo-jin.”
“What?”
“My name. Seol Woo-jin.”
“Oh… Hello, Seol Woo-jin.”
While her aunt hadn’t seen the homeowner’s face in six months, Soo-young not only saw his face on the second day but now also knew his name. Seol Woo-jin. His name seemed to match his face.
Assuming he knew her name, Soo-young skipped introducing herself and asserted firmly.
“Still, I don’t hear any noise from your room, but you heard my slippers from inside?”
“You can’t, but I can.”

Faced with his response, Soo-young had nothing to say. So, she deliberately made a noise while taking off her slippers and retorted.
“There, I took off my slippers. No noise now, right?”
Woo-jin’s eyebrows furrowed slightly at her words. He thought, just lift your feet while walking, but maybe that was difficult for her.
Just like there were difficult things for him, perhaps for her, too.
Standing silently for a moment, Woo-jin then turned and went back into his room.
Watching his door close, Soo-young sighed inaudibly. His prickly personality didn’t make his handsome face any more comforting.
Her aunt had said the homeowner never leaves his room, so why does he keep coming out?
His nitpicking didn’t stop at the slippers. The next day, he came out to the living room to complain again.
“How do you wipe the sofa? It’s been sticky since you wiped it.”
“I wiped it with a dry cloth like my aunt told me.”

“Must have used a different cloth then.”
“There’s only one type of dry cloth in this house. Want to feel it?”
Soo-young extended the cloth, but it was pointless for Woo-jin. When she deliberately touched it to his fingertips, he recoiled, swatting it away.
He clearly disliked any contact. Another thing to be careful about.
No slippers, wiping the sofa thoroughly, never touching the homeowner. She wondered if she could last three weeks.
With the job market as it was, the likelihood of finding a job within three weeks was slim.
While cleaning the house, Soo-young thought that if she could get used to being scolded here, she would be able to endure any company. Holding the cleaning cloth tightly, she determined to persevere.
Soo-young surprised Woo-jin by allowing him to touch the cloth when he complained about the sofa being wiped improperly. Normally, people either overly kind or careful around those with disabilities, treating them as if they were special. While Woo-jin found such attention uncomfortable, he couldn’t ask them to stop their well-meaning actions. The best solution for him had always been to avoid people.
But Soo-young was different. She didn’t offer excessive kindness or help due to his blindness. She talked and acted normally, like she would with anyone else. This made Woo-jin want to talk to her more, leading him to say things he didn’t need to.
“The piano is sticky too.”
Soo-young, having not even gone near the piano, was unaware if it was sticky or not.

“I didn’t even go near the piano…”
Woo-jin was puzzled by her response.
“…Why didn’t you go?”
“You told me not to touch the piano that day.”
He realized his mistake; it wasn’t the piano he didn’t want her to touch, but the cane he had left there. This was why things should be kept in their place.
“But, do you play the piano well? I can play a bit too.”
Soo-young looked at the grand piano, fascinated. It was her first time seeing one in real life, usually only seen in concert halls.
Woo-jin was surprised she assumed he could play. While there are Braille scores, finding the right keys without sight wasn’t easy. Since losing his sight, he hadn’t played the piano once.
Then Soo-young asked if he could play for her, curious about the sound of a grand piano. Nobody had ever asked him to play or even expected he could.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
