The people gathered in the coronation hall differed in face and attire, yet all shared the same flushed expression. A new world was beginning from this day, and anticipation gleamed on every face.

Her gaze, seated quietly beside her parents, caught sight of him.

He stood out even more because he represented his father as Duke. His face, unseen for nearly ten days, appeared sharper due to lost weight.

Sensing Fernando’s newly matured aura, Etienne swallowed a sigh.

She thought she understood just how much he must have suffered in silence. Just because they hadn’t seen each other didn’t mean they hadn’t thought of one another.

‘Will I be able to meet his eyes today?’

And would she be able to smile at him?

The herald’s resonant voice, echoing through the hall, shattered Etienne’s reverie. Only then did a hushed murmur ripple through the crowd like a lie made real. Etienne, like everyone else, rose to greet the man who would become Emperor.

When the doors soon opened and Reinhart appeared, Etienne unconsciously held her breath.

Etienne realized anew just how beautiful the man she loved truly was. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from his confident stride as he crossed the hall step by step.
