“Just stay by yourself today, okay?”

Etienne, holding a parasol, spoke to Fernando, who stood blocking her way, but he said nothing and simply stepped beside her.

“I’m going to the dress fitting today.”

It was the day to try on the dress whose measurements had already been taken and design finalized, to check if it fit well.

As she explained to Fernando that it wasn’t a place he needed to come along, he walked silently for a while, then turned to Etienne and said,

“I feel uneasy leaving you alone.”

“That’s…”

It had already been three days. Yet Fernando came every single day and didn’t return until late at night. At first, knowing his feelings, she had eaten meals with him and read books together.

But when he came again the next day, she told him he didn’t need to keep coming—yet Fernando stubbornly persisted. And today, he was even determined to accompany her to the dressmaker’s.

“How can I possibly stop you?”

Etienne sighed openly, but Fernando merely took the parasol from her hand. Etienne watched the parasol with her eyes, then laughed as if utterly bewildered.

“Weren’t you going to hold it over me?”

“I think it suits me better.”

Fernando smiled beneath Etienne’s parasol. Standing a step away, Etienne took in both Fernando and the parasol in one glance, then nodded in acknowledgment.

“Nothing fails to suit your face. Even if you wore a flower in your hair, you’d still look lovely.”
