“I wondered if you were regretting not riding in the same carriage.”

“It was cramped and uncomfortable. I just have a lot on my mind, that’s all.”

Etienne waved her hand dismissively, as if to say it wasn’t worth worrying about. As she had mentioned at yesterday’s banquet, Nick and Sola, Bazan and Alex hadn’t departed together with her.

Ahead of Etienne’s carriage rode Crown Prince Reinhart’s six-horse carriage, and Fernando followed behind.

After Etienne had refused Fernando’s request to ride with her, he’d ended up trailing so closely like this.

Etienne hadn’t rejected Fernando for any other reason—she truly needed time alone.
