It was a beastforest where not even the paths of wild animals could be found.

Chopping down obstacles blocking their way, smashing through them, or leaping over them—racing tirelessly through the forest was an exhausting task, yet neither Killian at the front nor Brill following behind showed any sign of fatigue.

“How about taking a brief rest?”

Brill finally spoke up only when they had nearly reached their destination.

Night had fallen early upon the forest.

Running at their current pace through the thick darkness, where visibility stretched no farther than an arm’s length, was dangerous.

If they used torches, they might gain a bit more vision—but revealing their location to unknown mutants lurking somewhere in the shadows just to illuminate the path was out of the question.

“If you can’t swing your sword properly at a crucial moment, everything becomes meaningless.”

At Brill’s words, Killian halted mid-step.
