Jae Hyuk had watched over Ah Rin from her side since they were children. So he knew just how much she loved and looked up to Kyung Suk, even though Kyung Suk never gave her love in return. He understood better than anyone that family held a special meaning for Ah Rin.

‘But how can I possibly tell you that everyone except you already knows you’re not their biological daughter…?’

Jae Hyuk bit down hard on the soft flesh inside his mouth.

‘I’m scared—scared that you, who’ve already been hurt enough, will only suffer even more.’

One day when he was in middle school, Jae Hyuk discovered that Ah Rin wasn’t their biological daughter. Unaware he was listening, Madam Jeong and Kyung Suk were talking in their room.
