With sincerity in her words, Yu-jung smiled brightly.
In the three years since leaving Jae-hyuk, Yu-jung and Arin became closer than anyone else, including Ji-yoon.
Yu-jung was a warm-hearted and considerate person, someone Arin aspired to be like.
“Come on, the bride’s friend is here, let’s take a picture.”
Then, the photographer waiting in the bridal room spoke. Arin held Yu-jung’s hand tightly and smiled for the camera.
With 5 minutes left until the ceremony, as informed by a hotel employee, Arin said her goodbyes to Yu-jung and left the bridal waiting room.
A beautiful smile was drawn on Arin’s face. Yu-jung always made her feel good.
“Sister, you look really beautiful.”
It wasn’t her wedding, but her heart swelled with emotion.
However, it didn’t take long for the smile to disappear from Arin’s face.

“Oh, who do we have here?”
In the hallway walking to the ceremony venue, just as she was about to pass a man coming from the opposite direction, Arin was stopped. The unpleasant touch of the man holding her wrist made Arin’s face stiffen.
“Who are you to do this?”
Arin’s face contorted as she tried to shake off his grip.
“Don’t you know me?”
The man looked incredulous and clicked his tongue.
“Are you pretending not to know?”
“I really don’t know you.”
“You don’t know who I am? We’ve met several times.”
Arin struggled to free her wrist, but she couldn’t match the strength of the grown man.

“Wow, such pretense. We’ve met so many times.”
There was a strange emotion flickering in the man’s eyes, tinged with malice. He looked at Arin from head to toe with a sinister gaze.
“Well, okay. I don’t dislike a woman’s pretense.”
Arin felt fear facing the tall, bulky man, larger than herself. His snake-like gaze gave her chills, like insects crawling over her skin.
“Let go of my hand. Right now.”
Arin spoke with the most resolute and cold voice she could muster. However, the man only scoffed at her response, finding amusement in it.
“Did you come alone?”
He added ‘achacha’ as if remembering something, smacking his forehead.
“Of course, you came alone. You’re not hurt by my words, are you?”
Legally, they were not divorced. Arin was aware that many people thought she was divorced since she left the VAN Group main house, and her estrangement and separation from Jae-hyuk had prolonged.
But this was the first time a man so blatantly mentioned divorce to her.

“Don’t you know this will be your loss?”
“Loss? Me? Do you think I’m a fool? I’ve heard it all. Jae-hyuk is getting married.”
The mention of Jae-hyuk violently shook Arin’s expression. The man continued, seizing her wrist.
“So, there’s no reason I can’t touch you, Choi Arin.”
The man’s lips curled up in satisfaction at Arin’s shocked and docile reaction.
“That’s right. Be good.”
The man was confident.
‘I was a bit suspicious, but everything that guy said was true.’
The man who had tipped him off was none other than Jae-hyuk’s mother Jung Yeosa’s lover.
“Isn’t it said that Jae-hyuk and that woman are not legally divorced?”
“Well, they haven’t stamped the divorce papers, so you could say that. But think the other way, it’s practically the same as being divorced.”
“Really?”
“Of course. Would I lie in front of someone like you? You know who I have backing me up.”
In a secret place known only to a select few.
That’s where the man whispered these words.
“If you lie to me, I’ll kill you.”
“Sure, let’s go with that. But you know, our Vice Chairman is now getting married.”
“Ah, right. Heard about that. It’s funny they haven’t even filed for divorce yet.”
“I know you had feelings for Choi Arin. So now, don’t hesitate. She must be wanting it too. Given her lavish lifestyle as a chaebol wife, she must be quite lonely now. KK Group would welcome her with open arms.”
“Hahaha. That’s true.”

Unaware of the devil’s whisper, the man nourished his long-suppressed desire for Arin.
Being inherently arrogant and rude, he pushed Arin harder, thinking she was no longer with VAN Group.
Arin’s round shoulders trembled slightly.
“I’m going to call someone.”
The man burst into a sneer.
“Go ahead. No one might come, but even if they do, they’ll just pass by.”
Arin was appalled by the man’s attitude. Who was he to be so arrogant and rude?
“Let go.”
“Oh. Even your angry face is pretty?”
The man, not holding Arin’s hand, stroked his chin with the other.

Arin was disgusted by the man’s degrading words. She didn’t know who he was, nor did she want to.
“I heard you left that house three years ago. You may not have stamped the papers, but you and Jae-hyuk are already over.”
Arin couldn’t understand how a complete stranger knew about her and Jae-hyuk’s relationship.
A total stranger to her, but the man acted as if he knew her very well.
“It’s okay. You ignored me because you had Jae-hyuk then, but not anymore. I know it. I saw you looking at me very lustfully.”
Arin’s body stiffened as Jae-hyuk’s name was mentioned again.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
