“Hyung said to tell you. I’ll pay the rent without delay. And even if a knife is held to my neck, I won’t meet Nuna again. If you feel even a bit sorry, don’t show up in front of me.”
“……Really.”
Yuhyun knew she was hated, but she didn’t expect to be pushed away like this.
Hayan gently held Cheolyong’s arm.
‘I can’t end it like this…’
If Yuhyun tells her to wait, she can wait forever.
Even if it takes a lifetime, she can wait for him.
Tears welled up in Hayan’s eyes.
“Did he really say that? Did Yuhyun really say that?”
Cheolyong’s gaze wavered as he looked at Hayan.
‘Why am I always the villain?’
Cheolyong, too, was a human with emotions, so even if he hated her, seeing someone cry didn’t sit well with him.
‘Sigh…’
Cheolyong inwardly sighed briefly, turned away from Hayan’s crying face, and spoke in the most indifferent tone he could muster.
“Yeah. I hope this is the last. So, Nuna, live well. Unlike me hating you, I genuinely wish for Nuna’s happiness. The relationship between Nuna and Hyung is irreversible now. So, Nuna, our fateful connection ends here.”
Cheolyong pulled his arm away from Hayan’s grip.
“Seeing each other’s faces won’t do any good. For both Nuna and me. So, please leave each other’s lives now. Nuna. I beg you. I really hate saying these things now.”
Hayan couldn’t find any words to refute all the valid points.
She knew it was forced… Too well.
“Let’s not see each other anymore. Seriously. I don’t want to do this kind of thing anymore.”
Cheolyong left crying Hayan behind and locked the store door.
Even in the dark night, there were many people passing by in Yeonnam-dong.
There were many streetlights, and the area was well-lit, but in front of Hayan, it felt pitch dark, as if darkness had descended.
It felt like she was the only one left in an empty space.
After Jung Yeosa’s visit, Gyeongsuk contacted Wonsan to talk about their joint work at Ban Chairman’s house.
Wonsan, who had been a housemaid at the main house since Jeahyuk’s birth, stopped working five years ago due to deteriorating health and returned to her hometown.
Those who worked at the main house had to agree to special clauses in the contract before starting their jobs.
-Mouths must not speak even if they have them, and ears must not listen even if they have them.
-No matter what happens, do not disclose events that occur here to the outside.
-In the event of external disclosure, you must bear an appropriate price. The determination of that price will be made by Ban Chairman and Mrs. Jung.
It meant that many secret events in the main house should not be disclosed.
As Wonsan had worked at the main house the longest, she knew a lot, but she had never spoken about those events.
“It’s me, Gyeongsuk. It’s been a while.”
[What’s going on, Gyeongsuk?]In response to Gyeongsuk’s call, Wonsan replied in an abrupt voice instead of greetings.
Wonsan and Gyeongsuk didn’t have a bad relationship, but it wasn’t exactly good either.
Once, Gyeongsuk was immersed in a sense of superiority, thinking that her husband, Mr. Choi, was on a special mission under the orders of Chairman Ban. Moreover, she lived under the illusion that Mrs. Jung favored her more than other servants, leading Gyeongsuk to have a tendency to overlook the household chores done by other servants.
This attitude extended even towards Wonsan, who had been taking care of the main house chores for a long time.
As a result, the reputation of Mr. Choi and Gyeongsuk among the household servants was not favorable. The only reason the servants treated them differently was that they were afraid of Mrs. Jung.
Feeling sympathy for Arin, who grew up under such parents, and because Arin treated people kindly, Gyeongsuk was somewhat lenient toward Arin.
Wonsan clicked her tongue inwardly.
‘Being taken advantage of and still not coming to your senses. Tsk. Well, she must have chosen stupid actions knowingly.’
Without knowing Wonsan’s thoughts, Mrs. Jung spoke with a sense of superiority.
“There’s a message from Madam.”
[…….]“At that time, when the Chairman’s fiancee and a stranger came to the main house.”
[I don’t remember.]With a snicker at Wonsan’s words, Gyeongsuk interjected.
“Don’t pretend you don’t know. At that time, besides Madam, there was no one else at home. Madam knows about the secret the Chairman is keeping.”
[Yoon Gyeongsuk, are you still acting as Madam?]“Sister.”
In response to Wonsan’s sharp words, Gyeongsuk’s voice turned cold.
“You should know it’s not like the time when the Chairman trusted and believed in you, sister.”
[Yoon Gyeongsuk.]Gyeongsuk also knew. That the woman who came to find Mrs. Jung claiming to be the Chairman’s fiancee was not really his fiancee…
The woman was just a money-hungry nuisance, nothing more.
So, Mrs. Jung didn’t make a big deal out of the issue, and the Chairman didn’t feel guilty either.
‘If it’s not there, you can create it. People are only interested in the results anyway; they don’t care about the process.’
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
