Perhaps it was because both were situated at the far edge of their respective territories. For some reason, Adeline kept recalling the days she had spent at Horn’s villa.

Cassis’s small gestures had begun to gradually overlap with Mel’s in her mind. Watching Cassis quietly inspect her hand, Adeline couldn’t help but smile softly.

‘So he is Mel, after all.’

Was it because she’d thought of Mel again? Adeline kept seeing Mel in Cassis, over and over.

It wasn’t that the Mel she knew had never existed at all.

She had believed that Mel’s image was forever lost beneath his cruelly cold and hypocritical demeanor.

Yet a corner of Adeline’s heart, long frozen solid, was slowly beginning to thaw.

Adeline quietly followed Cassis toward the dining room. Today, her steps felt inexplicably light.

The two entered the dining room and naturally sat across from each other.

Appetizing pre-meal appetizers, fragrant and enticing, were placed before them.

On top of the smooth seafood soup, a soft, golden yolk glistened, stirring Adeline’s appetite.

Unconsciously swallowing, Adeline glanced sideways at Cassis across the table.

‘I used to think I’d choke just from eating a meal together.’

Not long ago, the mere sight of Cassis had made her nauseous—so much so that she’d avoided even sharing a table with him. Now, after only a few hours, her appetite had returned, and she found herself oddly amazed by it.

Adeline swiftly devoured the appetizer before her.
