Madam Philippa couldn’t manage to speak properly until the very end, and Hestia could only let out a soft groan.

She clasped her trembling hands together.

Pressing her forehead against her tightly interlaced fingers, she murmured a prayer in a very quiet voice.

Though it was late, and though she didn’t even know their faces…

She still wished to mourn them, however belatedly.

As soon as Hestia finished her brief prayer, Madam Philippa, as if she had been waiting for that moment, resumed her story.

“Miss Dulcinea has been living at Kalati Castle ever since. She wasn’t yet of age, and she had no other relatives to turn to.”

Hestia nodded.

That was only natural.

Though she didn’t know the details, from what she’d heard, Count Penlot and his wife seemed to have been deeply loyal to House Kalati.

Naturally, the ruling house bore the duty to care for their remaining dependents.

“Truth be told, after both suffered wounds from the Great Faction, their bond grew somewhat closer.”

Hestia unconsciously drew in a sharp breath.

Honestly, what she was most curious about was the “promise” Dulcinea had mentioned on their first day together.

Yet Madam Philippa seemed unaware of its contents and offered no explanation.
