Ushua, besides being Biare’s friend, was also the future head of the Genxaoti family, so her visit here must have had a significant reason.

“That means we need to be cautious to ensure no secrets are leaked.”

Ushua, now more formal, turned to the Duke and Biare and said, “Duke of Luscheff, there’s an unusual situation developing in the southern part of the Northern countries.”

The south of the Northern countries was known for its developed strait trade, with various merchants going through there for entry procedures.

But now, the movements around the southern trade ports were alarmingly abnormal.

“Explain in detail. Is there a problem?”

Biare thought, ‘If it’s about the south, then…’

“That damned Baby in the south wants a new sun.”

The issue started as a romantic feud over a woman, which ended with her choosing death, causing the two powerful families to spiral out of control.

A family in the south, after gaining victory, harbored ambitions of rebellion.

The Crown Prince, sensing the situation, joined the southern front with the Imperial Knights, returning victorious and significantly boosting his reputation.

This information had reached Biare’s father first, who was involved in trade, and he tipped off the royal family.

Biare frowned, surprised that Ushua knew about this. She had hoped the Crown Prince would continue struggling on the battlefield.

“Ushua, how did you come to know about this?”

“Ah, there’s a reason for that.”
Biare raised an eyebrow in puzzlement at Ushua’s meaningful words.

Heading to Biare’s room instead of the prepared guest room, Ushua comfortably settled herself on the sofa as if it was her own room.

Soon, a maid brought in tea and desserts, placed them on the table, and quietly left, closing the door behind her.

Biare, who had been feeling uneasy throughout the meal, finally broke the silence and asked her friend, “How did you come to know? Tell me now.”

She was concerned about Ushua keeping silent even in front of the Duke, whom she affectionately calls ‘father.’

After grabbing and eating a biscuit, Ushua finally started to speak. “There was a citizen of the Martha Empire who visited the Eastern countries for business.”

“Was that person from the southern part of the Northern countries?” Biare inquired.

After wiping her mouth with a handkerchief, Ushua replied, “Yes, we just maintained a friendship after that.”

Biare recalled Ushua’s past love story, about a man she loved who was killed in battle before she was to marry a wealthy heir. However, Biare hadn’t known that this man was from the south.

The man was a businessman from commoner origins. He had spoken the Eastern language awkwardly but earnestly, which intrigued Ushua.

She enjoyed every moment with him, brainstorming business ideas and discussing mutual interests all night long.

That’s why Ushua had a deeper understanding of the situation in the southern part of the Northern countries and was worried about the man who returned there.

Even the most capable businessman, in a society where nobility dominated, could be cruelly crushed.

This normality was so ingrained that no one dared to speak out or stand against it.

If Ushua was visiting the Northern countries herself, she must have already acknowledged her feelings to some extent.

Biare, who understood all too well the desire to protect a loved one, thought, ‘This time, things won’t go as you fear.’

Her father, a loyal serpent to the Royal family, would soon send an urgent message to the Emperor.

This would prevent war, sparing Ushua from the pain of losing someone she loved again.

Biare also resolved to support Ushua and the man she loved, vowing to look out for them in the future.

“You won’t have to worry about such a situation,” Biare reassured her friend, hoping Ushua wouldn’t have to endure the same unhappiness as before.

Xin Jiao Zhou: “???”

He fell ill.

She came to see him, bringing breakfast.

As she put down the breakfast and was about to leave, his hand slipped while holding the spoon. “Clank!”

She turned around upon hearing the noise.

He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”

“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.

He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”

Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.

After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.

Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.
