Ji Ho looked at the two little bear gummies resting on his palm. The baby sitting right beside him was also busy squishing the gummies held tightly in both hands. Yet the last person—only Hye Yoon wore a strangely serious expression.

Hye Yoon was still staring into the gummy bag. Curious, Ji Ho tilted his head slightly to peek inside. There sat a single lone bear gummy, missing its pair. Apparently, there had originally been seven.

Ji Ho decided to ease her adorable worry. His hand reached into the bag, pulled out the remaining bear, and popped it right into Hye Yoon’s mouth.

“Huh?”

Hye Yoon’s eyes widened. The baby, finding it amusing, lifted its head high with interest. As the gummy squished around in her mouth, the baby busily kneaded its plump little hands, each the size of a plum.

Her clear eyes, the red flush now faded, reflected the man’s face—drawn into a handsome smile.

“Pretty people always get an extra one. Got it?”

The baby nodded earnestly at Ji Ho’s words—at least pretending to understand. Ji Ho let out a soft chuckle at that innocent face, but immediately a gummy appeared before his lips. The baby stretched its wiggling hand straight toward him.

“Heh heh. Ji Ho, I guess you’re pretty too.”

Hye Yoon giggled, glancing between the baby and Ji Ho. Since the baby’s chubby arm showed no sign of relenting, Ji Ho quickly accepted the gummy. At her whispered “Thank you,” her cherry-like lips puckered slightly. Ji Ho then gently placed one of his own gummies into the baby’s mouth.

“Don’t just swallow it whole.”

“Mm. Chew well. Like Auntie—yum yum yum.”

Caught between affection from both sides, the baby’s head swiveled back and forth. In the end, none of the three actually ate the gummy they’d held in their own hands. Their mouths stayed sweet until the very moment they parted.

The baby’s parents seemed blissfully happy for many reasons—both that their child was safe and that this same child was now inexplicably nestled in Ji Ho’s arms. After rushing over in panic, they’d soon worn expressions of pure delight.

Hye Yoon, who had been watching Ji Ho with endless fascination, now placed the baby into his arms. Perhaps fearing the baby might break if he applied even the slightest pressure, Ji Ho remained stiff the entire time he held the child. Even his hands, cradling the baby’s back, radiated awkwardness.
