“I really feel wronged,” she wanted to say with a steady, earnest gaze, but the rapid-fire conversation didn’t even give her a chance.

“One of the actors that day kept pestering me nonstop.”

“…Why?”

In the end, she had no choice but to put off explaining. Hye Yoon reached for Assistant Director’s now-empty beer glass to refill it. His hands, accepting the glass, were as tense as his sharp reply that followed.

“He kept asking me to introduce him to Writer Jang—how old she is, her number… I mean, he said he wanted to talk about the project, so why ask her age? I told him I didn’t know her contact info, but he wouldn’t believe me. He kept at it till the end of the night, and honestly, he even called me a few times afterward.”

“Wow… I had no idea. You should’ve told me.”

Hye Yoon was immediately drawn into these new revelations. Emboldened by alcohol, her voice grew louder, magnifying even the smallest emotions.

Because of that, her own feelings of awkwardness and guilt swelled too.

“Ah, come on—you’ve got a boyfriend right there! Besides, the Director strictly told me not to say anything. Writer Jang really hates that kind of stuff.”

“She probably does. I feel bad for making her go through all that alone.”

“There’s nothing for Writer Jang to apologize for. I’m just telling you this happened. Since it’s the last time now… are you feeling regretful?”

His previously booming voice suddenly shrank under the weight of awkward sincerity. Those four syllables—“Are you regretful?”—sounded so small yet so precious. The two clinked their beer glasses with a smile.

As she took a sip, her eyes drifted and met Ji Ho’s again. The smile that had lingered at the corners of her eyes instantly faded. From across the room, his face glowed strikingly bright.

Beneath his gentle eye-smile, his beautifully curved lips silently asked,

“You don’t actually dislike it, do you?”
