“You gave me time until the final episode aired, right? But now there’s no need for that anymore.”

Her eyes, gently curved, turned toward him, but it seemed too much to hold his gaze for long. Before she could even finish her sentence, Hye Yoon turned her head straight ahead. Of course, her eyes merely took in the night park, while her voice and heart still flowed toward the man seated beside her.

“When things have become this clear, I don’t even want to drag it out anymore… What if I accidentally start liking someone else? Just thinking about it makes me sad.”

“…Huh?”

His voice dropped low, instantly deflated. He looked as if he were about to pout from just that brief thought, his lower lip already puffing out slightly.

Ji Ho had been watching her face the whole time. Her words and actions didn’t make immediate sense to him. Usually, he could read Hye Yoon’s true feelings quickly—but this time, he couldn’t even grasp the faintest hint. Just as his brow furrowed, trapped in that unfamiliar maze, Hye Yoon faced him directly.

Her soft, warm brown eyes shimmered with tender emotion. At their edges lingered the deep night, while right at their center sat only one person. And so, she finally let slip the words she’d been quietly turning over in her mouth all week.

“So… will you really, really go out with me?”

“……”

She was the kind of woman who conveyed even her shyness fully and unmistakably. Ji Ho found his mouth hanging open without realizing it. Seeing no audible reply, Hye Yoon nervously added a quiet sentence.

“…I’ll treat you well.”

“Geez, you’re driving me crazy…”

Ji Ho’s shoulders sank low as his tension abruptly released. A simple, unguarded remark slipped out from him. Hye Yoon felt relieved; his brief reaction didn’t seem entirely negative—though she still couldn’t be completely sure.

“I want to see the ocean I’ve been dreaming of while you’re right beside me, and I also want you to take me to the oceans you know… That’s what I’d like.”

So she leaned in a little closer to whisper something else she’d wanted to say. Ji Ho rested his head against the headrest for a moment. After a whole night weighed down by anxiety, it was no wonder he felt drained.
