May. Hye Yoon led a routinely busy life. She had thought things would ease up once Children’s Day passed, but instead, more and more places began showing interest in Jang Yoon’s perspective. She’d started serializing essays in a children’s literature magazine, and the sequel to the picture book she’d published years ago was due out any day now.

Every proposal sent to writer Jang Hye Yoon was being declined. After all, Jang Hye Yoon couldn’t afford to be as free as Jang Yoon.

Except for a few days off, the past three weeks had all been the same. She ate and took walks at fixed times, and only touched her phone during those exact windows. And on truly lucky days, she could even hear Ji Ho’s voice during her break.

Most days weren’t lucky. But precisely because of that, whenever he reached out, she felt as if wings had sprouted—overjoyed. Ji Ho was handling a schedule that defied her common sense.

‘Today I went to the bookstore and read some books! Before leaving, I hesitated for thirty minutes—should I buy it or not? I haven’t even finished the book I bought last week, so buying another feels greedy.’

‘Wow, you must’ve agonized over that alone. And then? What’d you do after the bookstore?’

‘Yeah. I had plans with Min Joo in the evening…’

Chatter chatter, endless chatter. For twenty minutes, words and thoughts poured out without pause. His voice, begging and coaxing her to hear more, was sweetly alluring.

‘What if I get busy too?’ That anxious fantasy she’d had repeatedly last month had now become reality.

‘Will you get even busier once the movie premieres?’

‘Hmm, probably. I’ve already got multiple schedules lined up starting tomorrow.’

‘I see…’

‘It’ll probably be like this for about another month… Sorry.’

‘Ah, don’t apologize. I’m busy with work too, so it’s fine.’

Three weeks ago, after having dinner with their families, they’d spent an entire day alone together. They’d gently caressed each other’s skin while talking. Since that day, she hadn’t been able to touch Ji Ho. Of course, she could still see him—he appeared every time she turned on the TV.
