It seemed she had slipped into a shallow sleep once again. Hye Yoon slowly lifted her eyelids. As her vision started to focus and she recognized the wall in front of her, faint noises also began reaching her ears.
The intermittent rustling of pages being turned. Along with that, a large warm hand stroking her back.
‘……It’s comforting.’
The room was filled with a tranquil peace. Hye Yoon quietly savored the sensations the person behind her provided. Ji Ho seemed to only remove his hand from her back when turning the pages. A soft patting sound was heard each time he turned a page.
Then again, the soothing, heartwarming patting sound.
She was sure she must have slept rather soundly, forgetting her pain. Such confidence was as easy as breathing in front of his gentle touch.
However, a wave of fear soon washed over her. She wondered if his hands didn’t just soothe her pain and worries, but took them away. It seemed like something Ji Ho might do, which she didn’t like.

Hye Yoon reached out her hand without realizing. Like a person enchanted, her fingertips touched his dark eyelashes. Tap. Tap. Simultaneously, his eyelids trembled minutely.
Upon that small flinch, she suddenly became aware of her actions and quickly retracted her hand, but the spread of a smile on Ji Ho’s face was even swifter. His slowly opening eyes always directed at one person.
“……Shouldn’t I sleep? Want to play?”
The question in his drowsy, deepened voice lingered in her ears, so sweet it seemed it might stay a while. Hye Yoon quickly nodded vigorously. Pushing away the rustling noise of the pillow behind, she laid down just like Ji Ho and closed her eyes.
With her eyes tightly shut and lips sealed, she felt content, thinking none of the happiness she felt would spill out.

Suddenly, a soft skin sensation brushed the back of her neck, coming closer. Startled, she opened her eyes to find Ji Ho’s arms pulling her into his embrace, so that all she could see was his broad chest.
“Mm. Let’s sleep for just an hour.”
His deep voice resonated, coupled with a dreamlike scent. As Ji Ho tightened his embrace, the sound of his heartbeat thumped. Thump. Thump. Thump. As if she was trapped within his heart.
Yet soon, she began to fidget again. Ji Ho chuckled, realizing her restless movement within his arms.
‘She can’t sleep.’
He intended to release her from the embrace as her fidgeting continued. The moment her movement halted, a gentle touch was felt on his back.
