While waiting for Cyrus, Ariana had dinner and then enjoyed a light tea time with Seini, who had just returned from training.

Both Seini and Katrinne had gone off to their respective rooms to sleep, but Ariana remained fully dressed, seated in the reception room.

“He must be busy, I suppose.”

Whenever something like this happened, Cyrus always came to see Ariana.

Since he’d met with Baisen yet still hadn’t sent word, he was surely overwhelmed with official duties.

She suppressed the strange unease rising in her chest with the thought, “He’s just busy. Of course he is,” and quelled the unpleasant thoughts threatening to surface with a sip of cold tea.

Feeling too uneasy to stay alone in her room, she abruptly stood up and opened the door, intending to chat with Lanster, who was surely standing guard outside.

But at that exact moment, Cyrus happened to be walking down the corridor past Ariana’s door.

It had been so long since she’d seen his face up close.

Ariana froze in surprise, staring blankly at his handsome features.

Their gazes tangled in midair. He, too, looked visibly flustered—as if he hadn’t expected to run into Ariana at this hour.

Ariana was the first to collect herself and speak.

“You seem busy.”

“Yes.”
