“The Fantasia Butterfly” was Eduardo Lopez’s masterpiece—and, having passed away before publishing its final third part, it remained as his tragic unfinished work.

I’d previously heard that this very last part had actually been in Edward Lopez’s possession.

It seemed that along with Edward’s title and estate, the musical score had also made its way into Ariana’s hands.

So that was why she was so excited? But that alone didn’t explain the jumble of numbers scribbled all over the paper.

Ariana whispered, pointing toward the score.

“Do you hear it?”

I could see it—black circles and dashed lines.

I wondered if this was how my own subordinates felt when I scolded them for failing to mimic even a single move from my sword demonstration.

Ariana looked up at him with sparkling eyes, clearly expecting an answer.

For the first time in a long while—perhaps ever—Dante confessed his own incompetence.

“No. I don’t understand it at all.”

“Oh.”

Only then did Ariana seem to realize her mistake, her cheeks flushing slightly.

“I’m sorry. I must have gotten carried away. You’ve never studied music, so of course you wouldn’t understand just by looking at the score.”

Acknowledging her oversight, Ariana reached out her arm. Her movement brought her a little closer. The scent of soap tickled his nose.
