Ra Jin’s eyes and mouth widened in shock.
“Director?”
Jae Heon, approaching her, locked his gaze on her and tilted his head slightly.
“Did you abandon me?”
What… What is he talking about? There are other people here!
‘Did they hear?’
As Ra Jin glanced at Ha Kyung with a flustered look, Jae Heon’s gaze followed hers.
Upon meeting her eyes, his pupils, which momentarily softened, sharpened again at the sight of Ha Kyung.
“Ah, hello, Senior Manager! I’m Deputy Ha Kyung from the Business Support Department.”
Ha Kyung, springing up like a reflex, bowed and greeted him. Surprised by the sudden appearance of the notorious Senior Manager, Ha Kyung missed what Jae Heon had said to Ra Jin.
“Ha Kyung.”
The Senior Manager muttered his name, making Ha Kyung turn pale.
“…Deputy.”
“Yes, y-yes, Senior… I mean, Director.”
Ha Kyung quickly recalled that Jae Heon preferred being addressed as ‘Director’ rather than ‘Senior Manager’, and adjusted his address accordingly.
“What are you doing here with my secretary?”
“Uh? We…just had lunch and were about to have some coffee…”
‘They had lunch together?’
Seeing Jae Heon’s menacing look, a cold sweat broke out on Ha Kyung’s back.
Even during meetings or occasional run-ins, Jae Heon’s aura was overwhelming.
Standing in front of Jae Heon now, Ha Kyung found it hard to breathe.
He felt like prey being stalked by a predator.
‘Did I do something wrong? Does he think I’ve extracted some information from the Secretary? Or maybe…’
That I’m romantically interested in her?
Ha Kyung recalled how Ra Jin had smiled faintly when mentioning Jae Heon earlier.
‘Could there be something between them?’
Seo Jae Heon, the Senior Manager, was renowned for his immaculate private life, and Ra Jin was equally famous for her strict self-discipline.
They had been in sync for years without any rumors.
However, Ha Kyung remembered that Jae Heon’s initially sharp gaze had softened for a fleeting moment upon seeing Ra Jin at the café.
If they were indeed involved…
Then he had unintentionally thrown himself into hot water.
‘I need to get out of here quickly. Out of sight, out of mind… Ahh…’
“I’ll be on my way. Please continue your conversation.”
Jae Heon slightly narrowed his eyes. At least the guy has some sense.
“Go ahead.”
“Yes, then…”
“Take care, Deputy Ha Kyung.”
Upon hearing Ra Jin’s farewell, Ha Kyung reflexively looked at Jae Heon.
Unsurprisingly, his eyes were filled with a stern glare.
“Y-Yes…”
But just as he tried to quickly leave,
“Deputy Ha Kyung.”
A voice, deeper than a cave, stopped him.
“It was nice meeting you today.”
“Ah, y-yes, I too enjoyed…”
“We’ll meet again. I’ll remember your face and name.”
Ha Kyung realized he had just been marked by Jae Heon.
‘If I mess up one more time…’
His face drained of color, Ha Kyung quickly exited the cafe.
“How did you get here?”
“By car.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“How is the Secretary here? Has it always been this way?”
“What do you mean by ‘always’?”
In a voice only audible to Ra Jin, Jae Heon gritted his teeth.
“Every time I’m away, do you always have lunch and come to cafes with other men?”
Tension appeared on Ra Jin’s forehead.
“No. Today was the first time.”
“How can I believe that?”
“You’re doubting me?”
“Anyone would in this situation.”
“You don’t have to believe me. I’m innocent.”
“Ha! Weren’t we in a relationsh…”
“Director!”
Startled by the word ‘relationship’, Ra Jin interrupted loudly, and Jae Heon quickly shut his mouth.
“We should head back to the office, Director.”
“…Right.”
“You go ahead. I’ll drop this off at the counter.”
On the table lay a barely touched milk tea latte and a cookie.
[Dash] “Secretary, would you like a cookie? The chocolate cookies here are delicious.”
Recalling Ha Kyung’s words during his conversation with Ra Jin in the car, Jae Heon’s face contorted as he saw the cookie.
“Will you take the cookie?”
“Yes, I plan to.”
“Throw it away.”
“Excuse me?”
“I said, discard it.”
“May I know why?”
“I don’t like how it looks. It reminds me of a potato that’s been bombarded by raisins. It irritates me.”
Ra Jin tilted her head. The big cookie, dotted with chocolate chips, seemed nothing but appetizing.
“I’ll keep it out of sight in my bag.”
“What?”
You’re going to cherish a cookie given by that guy?
Is this what you say in front of your lover?
Jae Heon was boiling with anger inside. That mere cookie, I can buy you plenty.
I should just buy boxes of them or perhaps even make some.
‘I need to launch a cookie as a new dessert product. One that’s much larger, tastier, and more attractive.’
I’ll name it ‘Vanish’. Incorporating the word ‘disappear’ in reference to Ra Jin. If I have to assign meaning, it’d be ‘a cookie so delicious it vanishes as soon as you put it in your mouth.’
Lost in thoughts of developing a new product and even naming it to outdo the cookie Ha Kyung gave, Jae Heon’s eyes ignited with determination.
“No. Just discard it.”
“But it’s such a waste.”
“Then give it to me. I’ll eat it.”
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
