Min Chan’s eyes widened in surprise.
Marrying the real daughter? What on earth did that mean? Did it mean that Ra Jin wasn’t her biological daughter?
“Hey, Ra Jin!”
“President Jo, don’t you know? I thought you knew because you said we’re close.”
Young Ho and Sook Young were restless, looking at Min Chan’s reaction.
“Is that true, President Sa?”
“No, that’s… Ra Jin is no different from my biological child! She’s no different from Yu Jin!”
It meant that Ra Jin’s words were right, anyway.
“Did you deceive me now?”
“No, not deceived, it’s just that…”
Young Ho’s words faded, and he soon bowed his head deeply.
“I apologize. We thought of Ra Jin as our biological child, so we failed to mention it.”
Ha. Even though it was unbelievable, he had to accept it. Min Chan clicked his tongue, and Sook Young also bowed her head deeply.
However, the reason Min Chan was angry was not because Ra Jin was adopted.
Because if Young Ho had told him the truth earlier, he wouldn’t have wasted his time.
Looking at Ra Jin again, Min Chan smirked.
‘You cute thing, so that’s why you’ve been avoiding me like this?’
Every time Young Ho postponed the date, he was annoyed.
“Well, our Ra Jin has a very important project this week and seems to be out of time…”
“No, who’s not busy? We all make time to meet.”
“I’m really sorry. I’ll definitely make time next week…”
“Didn’t you say the same thing last week? Oh, it seems our President Sa doesn’t want to see me more. I’ll have to do as you wish, then.”
“No, no! I, I’ll somehow make arrangements!”
It felt disgusting as if he was begging.
Now he understood the reason.
Conquered by a sense of unworthiness, Ra Jin had been avoiding the meeting, thinking, ‘Can I dare to face such a man?’
‘There’s absolutely no need for that.’
Every time there was a friction with his divorced wife, her family intervened in everything and it was very annoying.
As a man, he might have to drink late with clients and might not be able to contact, every time his exwife argued exhaustively.
Where he was with whom until when and why, why was there women’s makeup on his shirt, why did he get married if he was going to do something he couldn’t be proud of, and so on.
One day, even before he sobered up from drinking, he raised his hand in irritation because she kept nagging next to him.
Then, the motherinlaw contacted her family in a fit of anger and summoned all the relatives from the husband’s side.
That day, Min Chan was knocked to the ground by his fatherinlaw, who was a former wrestler.
The tough motherinlaw slapped him for daring to lay a hand on her daughter, and the brotherinlaw also screamed at the top of his lungs, saying he would keep an eye on what he was doing from then on.
The motherinlaw’s family operated a food company similar in scale to Taesan Distribution, and Min Chan couldn’t stand up to them due to their intertwined businesses.
And from that day on, because of his brotherinlaw’s extensive network, his whereabouts were revealed every moment, and he couldn’t even visit bars with ease.
Every day, he received monitoring calls and messages from his inlaws, and he was stressed to the point of losing his hair.
Min Chan, who finally managed to divorce, made a resolution.
He would meet a quiet and decent woman next time.
A woman who would simply agree and obey whatever her husband said.
On top of that, her family’s influence shouldn’t be too strong.
While it shouldn’t be too low, a family that would follow him without a peep regardless of what he said would be perfect. Well, he was making quite a decent amount of money anyway.
The person who met all these conditions was none other than Ra Jin.
Director Sa Young Ho, whom Min Chan met, seemed kind at a glance, but that was only a mask to hide his cowardly and cringing nature.
Even if his adopted daughter was wronged, he was a man who would stay silent as long as it didn’t affect his business.
“Ah, so that’s why our Ms. Ra Jin was worried. You should have told me earlier, I’m fine with it.”
At Min Chan’s words, Young Ho and Suk Young, who were trembling like sinners, opened their eyes wide and lifted their heads.
‘Huh? What the hell is he talking about? He’s not angry… he’s smiling?’
Ra Jin also narrowed her eyes at Min Chan’s unexpected reaction.
“Are you saying it’s okay that I’m adopted?”
“Of course. Because Ms. Ra Jin herself is so attractive.”
Ra Jin narrowed her eyes at Min Chan’s smarmy look.
‘Why does he seem unaffected? I thought he would be angry, thinking he was deceived.’
Young Ho and Suk Young, who were running a business in the provinces, moved their home to a place closer to Seoul as soon as they adopted Ra Jin and cut off contact with the people they knew.
They explained that it was for Ra Jin’s sake.
“People might torment Ra Jin if they find out she grew up in an orphanage. Being abandoned by parents is a serious stigma in society.”
“Yes…”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
