She had sought Sunwoo’s help and discussed her situation, relying purely on the favor of her university senior who cared for her.
If she had known that he considered her romantically, she wouldn’t have reached out to Sunwoo, no matter how difficult the situation was.
“I’m sorry. I’ll stay in the officetel only until I find a job. I’ll cover all the other expenses, so…”
“Lajin, calm down and listen to me. Okay?”
Sunwoo, with a puzzled expression, stopped her with hand gestures.
“I’m not asking you to accept it right away.”
“My feelings won’t change now or in the future. Oppa, I know how painful and agonizing it is to cling to false possibilities. I don’t want you to experience that.”
“Lajin, you didn’t know in the past that Jaehun would have a child.”
Amidst her silence, Sunwoo continued.
“No one knows how things will turn out in life. Even if it’s a long way off. I hope you’ll think of me when the moment comes that you find it difficult to endure alone and feel that the child needs a guardian. That’s what I mean.”
“…”
“And go to the safe house. This is driven by a senior who cares for his junior. The job is the same. Even if your junior asked for a favor, I would have listened.”
Lajin knows. Sunwoo’s words just now are meant to comfort her.
It hasn’t been long since she verbally declared her lack of interest in others.
“The reason you hide the fact of being pregnant from Jaehun is because it would be dangerous if he found out.”
“…”
“Think about the child, Lajin. You need to be a bit more shameless. It’s absolutely necessary now.”
Sunwoo’s words were right.
But to receive help in his current state was still unappealing to her.
“I will definitely repay the favor given to me. Please don’t reject this.”
Looking at her trying to draw a line somehow, Sunwoo let out a bitter smile. Still, he should consider himself fortunate to be able to be by her side.
“Yeah, got it.”
In response to his answer, Lajin tightened her lips.
‘Let’s think about Tonton now. And when the child is born, I need to prepare step by step to be able to stand on my own.’
“A quiet cat goes up first. I didn’t expect Sunwoo to say such things.”
Jungyu sighed deeply, putting the wipe aside.
Thinking about what happened just a week ago still made his chest tighten.
“Grandpa, you mentioned the safe house before. Is it still there?”
“Well, if we didn’t fix it, it would have become desolate, but it’s still there.”
“I’d like to use that. And also, it’s about my junior, the one I was going to interview. I’d like him to work remotely. He’s good at handling any program, and he writes reports neatly. So even if it’s remote, it won’t be inconvenient.”
“Why are you suddenly saying that?”
His grandson, who suddenly came and asked about the safe house, unexpectedly declared a bomb.
“Lajin is pregnant.”
“W-what? No way, is it Sunwoo’s child?”
“That’s not it. But I’m willing to take responsibility.”
His grandson’s words were not understandable. It felt like reading a physics paper written in a primitive tribe’s language.
“I like Lajin a lot. So, I’ll consider the child in her belly as my own and raise it. Grandpa, I hope you’ll be on my side.”
“No, so, your university junior, whom you were going to introduce as a secretary, got pregnant, so you want to stay in the safe house and work remotely, but the child in her belly isn’t your child?”
“That’s correct.”
Following this, his grandson knelt down and bowed his head. Sunwoo had never so earnestly asked for something in his life.
“I beg you, Grandfather. It’s urgent to move to the safe house first. Please don’t say anything yet; I’ll explain to my parents later.”
“Heh, really… I can’t understand anything else, and why specifically the safe house? The current lodging should be sufficient.”
“It’s dangerous to stay there. I’ll explain in detail later; it’s urgent.”
It seems like he has lived for too long. Seeing him encountering such a strange situation was quite absurd.
For the past few days, due to the shock and Sunwoo’s urging to fix the neglected safe house, there was no time for deep contemplation.
“Staying in the safe house means… the person looking for that university junior holds a quite high social position or is wealthy.”
Wait, if that university junior worked at Geonyoung Group. Could they be one of the company executives? And a high-ranking one at that?
“This seems to be getting involved in a complicated matter…”
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Yunhee could catch her breath.
For the past few days, the constant ringing and email notifications about Jaehun and Dodam Group’s Jang Seoyoung’s wedding announcement had been incessant.
Reporters bombarded the secretary’s office with inquiries about the marriage article, and as a result, the PR department and Yunhee were in chaos.
“Sigh. Conglomerates are conglomerates. The whole country is buzzing just because there’s a possibility of marriage.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
