What do you want me to help with?
Lajin, who lowered her head, took a deep breath.
Then, she raised the corners of her mouth.
“Nice to meet you, Manager.”
As Lajin shook hands with her, Seoyoung flinched.
“I’ll do my best.”
Strange? Until a moment ago, it seemed like the gaze had calmed down.
The Lajin in front of her was smiling brightly.
‘What’s going on? Is this a strategy to stab me in the back?’
Perplexed, Seoyoung tried to smile back.
“Whether to have an engagement ceremony first or a wedding directly, I don’t know, but whatever it is, I’ll leave it to you. I hope you can help with the wedding preparations as well. Our Jaehun has a lot on his plate.”
‘Our Jaehun’—even with these words, Lajin nodded without wavering, keeping her eyes closed.
“Planning a wedding, I’m not sure if it’s an honor I can enjoy. I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t become anyone’s business.”
Seoyoung chuckled.
‘Was it just needless worry? She seems perfectly fine.’
She even seemed in a good mood.
“It seems like our secretary is happy that Mr. Jaehun is marrying me. Your expression brightened.”
“Of course. It’s such a joyful occasion for our chairman to welcome such a wonderful lady as his wife. I think you’ll become more relaxed and generous once you get married. At least, that’s what I unconsciously expressed on my face.”
Seoyoung could finally relax a bit.
There didn’t seem to be any unusual events between the two.
Moreover, she quite liked Lajin.
Seeing her calm, composed, and courteous behavior, it was clear why Chairman Seo and Jaehun liked her.
“It’s fortunate to have such a capable employee by Mr. Jaehun’s side. I’ll rely on you in the future as well.”
Lajin responded with a smile.
“I’ll do my best, Manager.”
Beep beep beep—beep beep beep—
Entering the six-digit code on the door lock, Lajin opened the door and entered her home.
After putting down her bag, washing her hands, changing her clothes, she took out a 500ml bottle of water from the refrigerator and drank about half.
“…Refreshing.”
However, her expression didn’t look refreshing at all.
The words Seoyoung had just spoken kept echoing in her head.
‘Our Jaehun…’
Those were the words Seoyoung said without any hesitation.
When did they meet? Why didn’t he tell me?
While it certainly wasn’t appropriate to discuss such matters with a secretary, it was something they should have discussed.
Until when did he plan to keep it a secret?
Lajin sat down on the chair, her strength draining away.
“When did he plan to tell me…”
Jaehun kept coming to mind.
The moments when he treated her affectionately, the sweet words he whispered to her, all rushed over Lajin like waves, chilling her to the bone.
“Uncle likes Unni.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. A lot.”
A few days ago, when she went down to Gangwon Province to meet William.
What did he say to Suji inside the vinyl greenhouse at that time?
“Does Unni like Uncle?”
It wasn’t that she was genuinely curious about his feelings.
She was just trying to gauge how much he liked her.
How much value he still had for using her.
That day, all the way up to Seoul, Jaehun scolded her for not answering.
Back then, it was just awkward, and she thought he was cute.
Lajin’s hand tightened. The plastic bottle crumpled, and some water splashed onto the table.
It looked like teardrops.
But Lajin didn’t cry.
After hearing the words from Sukyeong last time, ‘What crime did the child inherit your destiny for,’ she returned home and cried alone.
However, look.
Crying doesn’t change anything. Anything at all.
“…You bad guy.”
Instead of crying, she decided to curse.
“Bad Seo Jaehun.”
A truly bad and wicked man.
Lajin closed the cap of the bottled water and put it back in the refrigerator.
Today, I shouldn’t have dinner.
As my mood sank, things didn’t seem quite right.
Then, as Lajin recalled that tomorrow was Friday, her expression sank endlessly.
It was the day to visit Jaehun’s house.
The next day.
“There is an executive meeting starting at 9 a.m. During lunchtime, there is a meeting and meal with UK Trading CEO Choi Young-bae in Cheongdam-dong.”
“…….”
Jaehun silently watched Lajin reporting on her work.
“From 2 p.m., there is a PR agency presentation for about an hour and a half. At 3:30 p.m., there is a video conference with factory managers, and at 5 p.m., there is a meeting scheduled with the legal team. That’s all. Any other opinions?”
“No.”
“All right. Then, I will double-check the materials related to the meeting and distribute them again.”
As Lajin bowed her head and turned around for a moment,
“Secretary.”
“Yes, Director.”
“Don’t forget about going home together today.”
Lajin, who momentarily narrowed her eyes, quickly returned to her usual expression.
“I’m sorry, but I have plans today. I will make sure not to be late during your sleeping hours, Director.”
“Again, you have plans today?”
Jaehun narrowed his eyes.
“Where?”
“Near my home.”
“With whom?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
