Upon spotting the man, Ra Jin dropped the clothes she was holding.
“Well hidden.”
The man’s gaze landed on her protruding belly.
“Well kept too.”
Without realizing it, Ra Jin had cradled her belly with her hand.
“Ho, how did you get here?”
“Seems like you’re flustered. The world’s best secretary is stumbling over words.”
Jae Heon narrowed his brows, disliking the few steps Ra Jin retreated.
Jae Heon who approached her slowly bent over and picked up the sweater that had fallen on the floor.
The unfinished sweater was red. Very intense.
It was a very small size that an adult could never wear.
Jae Heon, who was staring at it, opened his mouth.
“Is this our baby’s clothes?”
Ra Jin’s pupils shook wildly.

‘Our baby’.
She thought she could never hear those words from his mouth.
Her heart ached. The baby in her belly also moved faintly as if it recognized its father’s voice.
But Ra Jin couldn’t be happy.
She remembered. The words Jae Heon said to her on the day she was appointed as secretary.
“Do you know why I chose you?”
“Because of my outstanding skills?”
“…It’s not incorrect. But because you’re the only person who doesn’t have false hopes about me.”
Ra Jin was in unrequited love with Jae Heon, her college senior. But thanks to her thoroughly hiding her feelings, she could stay close to him.
It was the same the day after they spent the night together.
“I’m saying this just in case.”
“Don’t worry. The only thing I want from you is your body.”
“Such a pleasing answer. I hope your feelings won’t change.”
It was clear that he, who went as far as saying that, would not welcome the child.
It was the same for his household, the Geonyeong Group.
Chairman Seo Sung Jae, with only one successor, was absolutely not the person to marry off his successor to a secretary who had nothing.

While he wore a seemingly kind smile, Ra Jin knew better than anyone that he was someone who would cut off anything that stood in Jae Heon’s way.
“No, it’s not.”
Jae Heon’s face distorted slightly.
“What is it not?”
Inhaling, Ra Jin firmly held onto the hem of her dress and looked straight into Jae Heon’s eyes.
He does not trust the words of someone who avoids his eyes.
“It’s not your baby.”
“…Ha.”
He exhaled a short breath as if he couldn’t believe it, but only for a moment.
In Jae Heon’s eyes, an emotion more intense and hotter than fire flared up.
If it’s not my child, then it’s another man’s child?
Just thinking about it made him feel as if his entire body was engulfed in flames.
Ra Jin was a sincere and truthful woman.
Even though it was a contractual relationship, she was not the type to meet other men when she was with him.

Jae Heon knew that better than anyone else.
Still……
“I’m pissed off.”
Frowning, he untied his tie harshly.
Looking at Ra Jin’s stomach, he repeated to himself.
Since the baby can hear, don’t speak harshly.
Sighing deeply, Jae Heon controlled his emotions.
“I realized it late. I feel sorry.”
At his serious voice, she rolled her lips in.
After having a child, it wasn’t once or twice that tears sprung up at trivial things.
But… She must not waver.
“I never thought of it. We were always thorough. Me, and my secretary too.”
Maybe it was Jae Heon’s trick.

To reassure her heart and erase the baby.
Because he’s a very thorough man.
“You don’t have to apologize. It has nothing to do with the president.”
Baby, I’m sorry.
The man standing in front of us is your dad.
Mom is going to lie a bit for us.
As if she made up her mind, she parted her lips.
“The baby’s father, is someone else.”
The moment he heard Ra Jin’s words.
Jae Heon smirked.
It wasn’t out of joy.
It was a mockery towards himself, who made her say such words.

“I know it’s not true better than anyone. But even if it’s true, I don’t care.”
Jae Heon’s eyes twinkled.
He couldn’t stand the time without Ra Jin any longer.
He didn’t have the confidence to endure that terrible loneliness and deep emptiness again.
He thought over and over again every day.
If he meets her again, he will never let go.
“Every child you give birth to is my child.”
His voice became firm.
“I think of it as a truth, like the sun rising in the morning and setting at night.”

That day was not a particularly good day for Jae Heon.

“If you refuse again this time, withdraw from the collaboration project with Mersey.”
At the words of his grandfather, Chairman Seo Seong Jae, a crack appeared on Jae Heon’s calm face.
“Didn’t I tell you clearly that it’s too early for me to get married?”
“Early! Among your peers, there are already those who have become fathers.”
“That’s their situation. I still want to concentrate on my work.”
“If you refuse, Ju Han will go in your place. Ju Han becomes the soninlaw of Do Moon Group, don’t you know that your position will be at risk!”
Ju Han was the son of his younger father, and he was one year older than him.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
