The Emperor declared the adjournment in a low voice.

Yet the Emperor did not immediately step away, looking down at the nobles who bowed respectfully. Instead, he glared at Nerea as though, if he could, he would stab her hundreds of times over.

Meeting that transparent hatred, Nerea calmly lifted the corners of her lips and, still smiling, offered an elegant bow.
