Thud—. It was utterly devastating to feel as if Rosa, the sanctuary of her heart, had been ripped away.

Grace clenched her fists tightly. Her throat felt blocked, making it hard to speak.

But if she cried in front of that cold face right now, she’d only look like a fool.

Grace quickly composed herself, pressing her lips together once before parting them again. Her glistening tears vanished instantly, and her dry face broke into a cold smile.

“A despicable bastard I can’t even stand to associate with.”

His mocking voice was quiet. The branch head’s office, which she had always considered her own private space, now felt suffocatingly narrow. Grace turned away. A languid voice followed her from behind.

“Are you really going out alone like that? It’ll be dangerous.”

“Don’t worry about me!”

With nothing left but her deeply wounded pride, Grace rushed out of the room in a daze. The young maidservant of the count, who had been waiting anxiously outside, worried about her master. Johnny felt the same.

It seemed as if everyone gathered here centered around the count. Irritated by this, Grace brushed past the maid and headed out through the branch head’s private corridor toward the front of the trading company. She was about to step outside, driven purely by her mood, when—
