Faced with her sharp gaze that seemed capable of piercing right through him, Alejandro finally dropped his act of feigned innocence and, just as he had once promised her knight, spoke the truth.

“…It’s just that lately, you’ve been asking after Grace, and I grew curious. Before a battle, after sending away even your closest attendant, what could you possibly have to discuss alone with Grace Lancaster, the heir to the barony?”
