Duke Roselini of the Imperial faction began with notably hopeful words. Yet, that alone couldn’t justify why the Emperor had summoned the leaders of both the Imperial and Noble factions at this late hour, so close to dawn.

The Emperor’s wide-open eyes bore down oppressively upon everyone present in the chamber—Empress, Crown Prince, even the Chief Steward—all watching Duke Roselini and Duke Hedeck. Duke Hedeck continued nervously where Duke Roselini had left off.

“…Though collection of leaflets that reached beyond the capital remains incomplete, we will finish it shortly. As for the commoner Boyed, who claimed there was rigging in the knightly tournament… he will be executed as soon as found.”

“As soon as found?”

Bang—the Emperor slammed the armrest of the throne violently, cutting off Duke Hedeck mid-sentence. Immediately, over a dreadful silence, the Emperor roared furiously, as if spitting out savage breath.

“Not only have those leaflets escaped beyond the capital, but you dare say ‘as soon as found’! At this late hour, those filthy pamphlets still slander the Imperial Family outside the capital, and malicious rumors spread freely based on whatever that commoner says!”

“My deepest apologies, Your Majesty. It seems the leaflets are spreading through Rosa’s distribution network, making them impossible to contain—”

“Duke Hedeck!”

The Empress hastily called out, reprimanding him.
