Contrary to Eustar’s and the officials’ worries, Od’s health had astonishingly improved dramatically starting the night before his birthday celebration.

Not only could he get out of bed, but he could also move between the dining hall, his bedroom, and even outside without needing support and without much effort.

Although his meals were still limited to soft foods, the royal physicians watching him finish an entire meal from start to finish couldn’t hide their astonishment and murmured among themselves.

It was utterly unbelievable that just a few hours earlier, he had still been unconscious. A stranger seeing him now would have assumed Od had recently recovered from a serious illness and entered his convalescence period.

Meanwhile, upon hearing this news on the morning of the birthday celebration, Laila found it difficult to calm her unsettled heart and sat on her bed for a long while.

‘What happened yesterday…’

Yesterday, she ultimately hadn’t gone to the library and had returned to her own room instead. Though Eustar had come to visit her in the evening, shared a meal, and even taken a brief walk outside with her, she still hadn’t been able to tell him what she’d seen.

Mel drew back the veil. The pale, cold winter sunlight began tracing thin lines across the bed, slowly enveloping Laila. Despite being touched by light, her fingertips felt as cold as if brushed by ice.

“Your feet will be chilly—put these on before coming downstairs.”

Laila stared blankly at the fur slippers Mel had placed at her feet, then stepped down from the bed.

The warm sensation gently embracing her feet, coupled with sleep deprivation, made her eyes droop—but before she could linger, Mel guided her into the bathroom.

“The nobles invited to the birthday celebration are arriving one after another, Miss Chrisrad.”

“I know, Mel. You’re saying I shouldn’t be lazing around, right?”

Mel turned her head slightly, gave a soft chuckle, and cleared her throat quietly.
