Glock Boot wagged his tongue with a deeply tense expression. His short-cropped beard trembled slightly along his jaw.

“The very first missing persons report filed with the Constabulary was about a month ago, Your Highness. There’s a small village nearby called Vicious, not far from this Kyron branch. A child named Millia, who lived there with her parents, vanished in the woods. She was six years old.”

“Was she alone in the forest?”

Glock shook his head.

“No, sir. She had accompanied her father, who was chopping wood. But a rabbit appeared, and while her father briefly chased after it, she… they say it was only a moment. The rabbit was so swift—he barely took a few steps before turning back, but by then, the child was gone.”

“Were there no traces left behind of the missing child?”

It was Laila who asked. Glock glanced at her with eyes still clouded by fear, then lowered his gaze as if avoiding her stare while replying.

“There were a few footprints heading toward the forest, but they stopped abruptly halfway. The child remains missing to this day.”

Eustar asked, “Aside from the child’s traces—was there anything else?”

Glock furrowed his darkened brow.

“Not far from where the child’s footprints ended, some strange items were left behind—a wooden chip engraved with a coin pattern, pebbles, and what looked like a piece of candy far too old to eat.”

“A wooden chip engraved with a coin pattern?”

“Yes. You know how the kingdom’s founding king’s portrait appears on our gold coins? Someone had crudely scratched the surface to mimic it, or drawn the image onto pebbles. To be frank, it looked like the kind of shoddy imitation children might use for pretend play. Not something that would lure a six-year-old.”

Laila suddenly spoke up.

“Perhaps they showed her an illusion.”
