“Eustar, please lay Olga down. Straighten her out. And I need cold water.”

The fairy let out a squawk.

“Cold water! Peoreongi can find it! Peoreongi will go get it, so just wait a moment!”

He left Muuge in Eustar’s arms and darted into the jagged crevice between irregular, sharp rocks. Eustar carefully laid Muuge down to avoid jostling her and then looked at Laila.

Laila touched the parts of Muuge’s arms and legs where they had been severed. As she’d suspected, stagnant energy had pooled there, raising the temperature drastically. The heat was intense enough that any ordinary person would have lost consciousness long ago.

Laila drew several small, intricate magic circles beneath the severed areas and pressed her hand to Muuge’s forehead.

The severed parts burned like fire, but her forehead was cold. She immediately understood this, too, was due to the energy failing to circulate properly.

“Water! I brought water! Peoreongi brought the water! It’s very cold!”

Eustar and Laila looked up, eyes wide in disbelief.

Floating above the fairy’s head was a droplet the size of a small gourd. Inside its transparent, glass-like membrane, water sloshed unrealistically.

Suddenly, Eustar chuckled quietly. Unrealistic? He faced absurdities daily—it was his normal.

Since the moment he was born, his life had spiraled off course through impossible events, yet here he was, dumbfounded by a mere fairy’s magic. The irony amused him.

“Hold onto it for a moment.”

The fairy circled around Laila’s hand, carrying the large droplet. Laila gently prodded the water.
