Baso bowed his head, shot a quick glance at Himiard, and turned away. Himiard, watching Baso’s retreating back with disbelief, finally stepped forward, her face deathly pale.

“Your Majesty! You cannot possibly do this!”

But Od remained calm. The smile on his face even gave off an eerie impression.

“Consider yourself fortunate that I ended it here. Go back and reflect. If you utter even one more word, I will cut off your head—no matter who you are.”

Himiard’s body trembled violently. Blood seeped from her tightly bitten lips. An intense, razor-sharp killing intent, born from unbearable humiliation, overflowed—either to die herself or to kill him.

Yet the inexplicable thing was that Od wore the very same expression as Himiard.

There was no trace of triumphant satisfaction—none of the joy one might feel after finally catching a traitor red-handed, someone who had desperately schemed to bring her down. He looked more exhausted than ever before, as though his soul, rather than his body, had grown utterly weary.

Od’s bony hand grasped the rim of his wheelchair. Just as he began slowly turning the wheels to turn his back on Himiard—

Everyone present simultaneously held their breath and stared at Himiard. Her voice carried no discernible emotion or inflection, which made them feel even greater fear.

Od lifted his dark, ashen face and glared at Himiard.

“What did you say?”

A cold silence descended. Od stared for a moment at Himiard’s clenched, trembling lips and her pallid face.

Had Himiard stubbornly persisted, Od might truly have killed her.
